Vitamin C serum recommendation

I have been using the Dr Barbara Sturm vitamin C serum for over a year and really like the texture and product on my skin.
My last bottle was from eBay and the price seems higher than usual.
Any recommendations for a similar product?

do not try Garnier daily UV Vitamin C
Dyed my hands orange in between fingers. I looked like a 40/day smoker.
Thanks for the recommendation Sali Hughes!

I like the Medik8 one but I've nothing to compare it to as I haven't used any other.

I've used this one a lot. I like that it has a pump as vit c degrades over time with too much oxygen All Natural Advice Vitamin C Serum For Face with Hyaluronic Acid & Vitamin E – Facial Serum - Organic Face Care -Proud Canadian Company (60ml / 2oz) https://amzn.eu/d/1VzCnE8

This looks a really good price. Perhaps I'm silly paying such a lot to big corporations who have to pay advertising, commission etc etc.

I have been using the Revolution Vit C serum 20%. It's pump action, and in a grape seed oil suspension, so goes on easily, adds hydration and is nice to use. It has definitely faded the sun-pigmentation on my face and hands, and I've been getting lots of compliments on my skin. At around £12 a go, it's very much Superdrug rather than Space NK, but it works for me. I've got DH using it too, and he's looking perkier!

I did try the Geek and Gorgeous, which also gets lots of love. But I was less enamoured of the dropper application and the very runny formulation. I guess the skincare that works best is the one you want to use regularly.

ASighMadeOfStone · 30/05/2024 14:59

Geek and Gorgeous is very similar in formulation to the holy grail of Vitamin C which is Skinceuticals.
I've just bought some as my Sali Hughes was running out.
Vitamin C comes in different formulations and types, and the best type is l.ascorbic acid sitting at between 12 and 20% but a lot of people can't deal with the higher concentrations. Barbara Sturm is 5% and contains nothing to merit the price. Any Olay or other high street vitamin C with a low percentage will be just as good.

I love Vitamin C.

The Murad one is great but agree it's expensive. I actually used to buy the travel size one - it felt like it lasted better, I'm not sure if in the full size the degradation was too high? But it is expensive AND I really didn't like the smell. (the rest of the Murad vitamin C range is lovely though - the face cleanser is fantastic and I also buy the travel size as I don't use it often).

I am not sure if Body Shop does a serum but their vitamin C range is also very good. Although they stopped making the vitamin C moisterising SPF which is annoying as it was amazing.

The Ordinary Vitamin C serums are fantastic and what I've been using. they are high strength though but if you've been using Murad should be fine. The one in silicone (when yu can get it) is very smooth and acts almost like a pirmer on my skin in the morning. The other one has a very slight exfoliating effect which is also great.

GerbilsForever24 · 30/05/2024 15:06

Oh, and the INkey List one isn't bad either but I think it's a lower concentration so more of a cumulative effect.

Mycatatemydinner · 30/05/2024 16:04

I love love love Skinceuticals Ferulic but it is pricey - I’d love to hear more about the geek and gorgeous please? Is it really that similar?

Downdownunderrabbit · 30/05/2024 16:05

Sunday Riley, the one with turmeric in it?
It's the best I've used

Figroll16 · 30/05/2024 16:05

I've been using the Dr Sam one for last month -it's lovely but at around £70 not sure if I'll repurchase.
