Recent weight loss need new wardrobe

HolidayHappy123 · 26/05/2024 11:56

I’ve recently lost 2.5 stone and dropped from a size 20/22 to a size 16/18. I’m still not skinny and have some way to go but can’t imagine ever being smaller than a 14.

I’ve held off buying new clothes for a while but most of my clothes are now too big and my trousers are falling down. My wardrobe is mostly black, grey and navy and I tend towards ordering those colours but I’d prefer something lighter for summer. I also generally wear dresses during summer but would like some nice trousers as well. Boden has been my go-to brand because I know it fits, but I’m ready to move on from jersey a-line dresses.

I’m also desperate for some designer jeans but so far have been unable to find a flattering pair - 7 for all Mankind, Mother and Frame all looked awful.

Don’t have a budget in mind but prefer high end clothing - I have a dressing room full of Jimmy Choo, Chanel, LV and Gucci shoes and bags, but no clothes to wear with them.

Where should I be looking for my new wardrobe? All help gratefully received.

Congratulations on your weight loss!

As you obviously have lots of dainty, feminine accessories - why not ground them with some beautifully cut, simple and androgynous clothes from Margaret Howell? Ostensibly they go up to a size 16, but everything is so vast generously cut you might even find you need to size down.

I love their clothes but most of the muted colour palette hates me - you might be luckier (and find it a relief after the visual noise of Boden).

This is a bit loud but they obviously have plainer things, and more casual, sporty things - which all last forever:

(I have taken you seriously regarding budget - so no apologies if you really want Next and Hobbs. Grin)

I'm the same as you ive gone from a 22 to size 18 I'm hoping to get to a 16. I got some wranglers and I love them. Clothes wise I would decide shapes that suit, colours you love and then search for those

I love MH too. Beautifully tailored clothing unfortunately out of my price range. My friend wore a very simple pared back dress in a block colour - it looked stunning in its simplicity and was from COS ( previous season ), she also wears shirts from COS offset with beautiful bags and simple jewellery. She’s a size 16 and she always looks stylish and elegant in an unfussy way. You could also achieve this look with your wonderful bag and shoe collection.

You could buy two or three basic staple good quality items that fit well and slowly build a wardrobe from there - this was good advice taken from another thread currently on S&B - stylist offering advice

Thanks. I hadn’t heard of Margaret Howell. The colours look ok for winter but I’m not getting summer vibes. I’m off to Miami shortly and I need something for warmer climes.

I’ve filled a basket with Me&Em but haven’t check it out yet.
