Period thongs?

Shan5474 · 24/05/2024 12:39

Anyone tried these? I really like period underwear to help prevent leaks but they all have thick seams that show under clothes and cut in to my thighs a bit. I got the copper coil recently so I’m getting random spotting which is annoying.

I’m wondering if the thongs would work well for light days/spotting/tampon leaking as they fit close to the body, or if there’s not enough fabric for them to actually absorb much 🤔

Including a photo because seamless ones sound really comfy!

I’d go by what the reviews on the website say, as they will be specific to that brand.

That’s true! The reviews are good so I’m going to give them a go 🤞

I'm past periods now , but yuk sorry .

SwingingPonytail · 25/05/2024 10:38

They look like an accident waiting to happen.

Sorry.

What's wrong with a panty liner for spotting?

Cattery · 25/05/2024 10:40

😱

StarlightLady · 25/05/2024 11:35

I wear thongs sometimes but I wouldn’t wear a thong during a period. For spotting l would still be doubtful if it would retain anything.

Woolygreyowl · 25/05/2024 11:36

Oh that would not work for me ! Would be like using a tissue as flood defences 😂😂😂

LividPink · 25/05/2024 11:40

These bring me out in a cold sweat just looking at.

The only place I wear thongs is at the gym, under my leggings; I wouldn’t wear them at any other time.

I got a period thong to wear at the gym, and to be honest it works fine, better than I thought it would. Probably helps that I’m only wearing it for max 60-90 minutes, then showering/changing. I would be wary of wearing it for much longer, especially on heavy days.

Sorry but thongs are the underwear that never should have been invented. Even worse are thong bikinis. Vile things for the most attention seeking people.

If you want period undies best to go with full briefs as they have most material = safest.

Just out of interest - what do you have against thongs?

Hohofortherobbers · 25/05/2024 12:40

I always wear thongs but not sure I'd trust a period thong to have enough gusset in the right area. Please report back. I'm interested

Yozzer87 · 25/05/2024 12:47

Wouldn't work for me. I can't be the only woman who's blood doesn't stay confined to the front. It gets everywhere. I would feel in no way confident enough to wear that, even on my lighter days.

Nocturna · 25/05/2024 13:01

Jesus this can't be a real product surely

Thank you this is really helpful. I was thinking they might be a good idea for exercise as pads or normal period pants can show or get damp and chafey. So it’s good to hear that they work well for that long and I guess maybe even longer with a tampon

I feel it’s so much plastic waste going to landfill, they tend to be too thin or short for me so I get stains, you have to sniff the pack to see if they’re scented, they don’t work with a thong under thin fabric and tbh I’m a bit resentful of the cost as I already have longish periods (10 days) and now may have more spotting or longer periods with the coil

Honestly, periods are the one thing we can use convenience products for without feeling guilty. We should do whatever we can to stop disruption to our lifestyle as possible. If you think a period thong is for you, then, bit of an odd choice but you do you. But don't feel bad for using pads and pantyliners.

PrincessofWells · 25/05/2024 17:06

Well done Op for thinking of the planet 😍

Bakingwithmyboys · 25/05/2024 17:12

Just to add with the spotting on the coil. I've always had this and found period underwear great for those days, but as it's so light I often don't need even those! Definitely worth a try if that's what you like.

Yes I think & have found the same with pads while exercising. And since I tend to go to the gym first thing, I’d either have to hope the period pants I wore overnight would do until the end of my session, or put on a fresh pair, which I’d then have to change afterwards. And yes, they do get damp and sweaty. The thong, while not my favourite thing, serves its purpose.

I used to use just panty liners as well .I did't want my whole day be about period too .

villamariavintrapp · 25/05/2024 18:18

@Yozzer87 what a weird and selfish attitude, but you do you..

Spinachandcheese · 25/05/2024 18:25

I have some wuka ones and they're great for the coil spotting days or end days or an hour at the gym when not too heavy (or worn with a tampon). Totally worth getting.

tetralaw · 25/05/2024 18:36

Wouldn't work for me that's for sure!🙈😆😆

Mrburnshound · 25/05/2024 18:48

I have a Mobodi period thong and it's excellent. I use it for light flow days or with a tampon and it works amazingly. Very comfy too. I have an XS and am a UK 6/8
