30th birthday presents?

My beautiful daughter is 30 in a few days time, and I'm looking for gift ideas please! I've bought her a pair of birkenstocks which she asked for, but I'd like to get a few other bits.

So her style is quite alternative, purple hair, tatoos, stretched ears, quirky dress sense.

I find her incredibly hard to buy for, as my style is much more restrained! But she does love skincare, perfume, makeup, accessories. Just all done in her own quirky way.

Would really appreciate any suggestions.

I’d buy a skin care gift set - No7, Clarins, Clinique or give her a voucher.

Are you wanting to buy her clothes or are you open to other stuff too? How about a voucher for whichever tattoo or piercing place she uses? She sounds similar to me and that's something I would love. Not that my mum would ever buy me that as she hates them😆

It's so difficult to guess someone's preferences, if you're spending a reasonable amount of money I'd suggest a voucher or at least a gift receipt! It's so upsetting when someone you love spends a lot on you but just misses the mark and you know you won't use the gift. For makeup/skincare/perfume - Space NK or Cult Beauty voucher? I'm a similar age and wouldn't use No 7 or Clarins, I do like Clinique but I know the products I like and I don't really want a gift set of stuff I don't use. If she's into skincare she likely knows the brands she likes/wants to try. I'd love a decent pair of sunglasses for my birthday but again you need to get ones that suit your face, maybe you could offer to take her for lunch and go shopping after? Ugg slippers?

My dd got 30 individually wrapped small gifts... She was over the moon..

Piggiesarecute · 24/05/2024 12:38

@Rocknrollstar I think she likes Lancome so yes I'll have a look at that.

@Lanawashington ooh excellent idea, except she follows certain artists so no loyalty to one particular salon. I sympathise with your mother, I also hate my DDs tattoos - but I dont tell her that! She has beautiful skin, seems a shame to tattoo it (sorry!) (She got me a tattoo for my 60th and I love it).
@innerdesign I may get her a voucher for schuh, she gets a lot of her footwear there.
@Mindblownawaybyfog 30 gifts sounds amazing, I think I'll do that. If I can think of 30 items!

Thanks everyone I've got some ideas now, your help is much appreciated!

How about an eye shadow palette, you can get some with lovely purple and green tones.

Can you get her some jewellery in a style she would like? That would be a nice keepsake as well

Flopsy145 · 24/05/2024 14:44

For my 30th I got a voucher to design my own piece of jewellery with a local designer who makes it in a very special way depending on moon phases etc. It's the sort of thing I'm very into and it's a very treasured piece of jewellery that I love that I got to design myself.

innerdesign · 24/05/2024 14:45

You know your daughter, I don't, but alternative young people are possibly quite likely to find sustainability important. I wouldn't personally appreciate 30 small gifts (plus associated wrapping) as I'd find it a bit of a waste and would prefer one or two special things I wouldn't get myself.

Have a look at Lana_TheGraves on Instagram - she’s a makeup influencer/ photographer who has similar style and recommends makeup. She does some great recommendations and shows how she uses them. Should be good for jewellery ideas too. I found her via Gen See makeup which is what I’d buy as a gift
