Amethyst and silver earrings

I saw a pair of sterling silver & natural amethyst earrings online for £19. It is from a legitimate shop but surely £19 is too cheap. Are the amethysts likely terrible quality?

Do you have a link?
Amethyst isn't a particularly expensive stone, it's very pretty though

That reads as though I'm being snobby, I'm not! I like amethysts, I like gemstones to be "soft" curvy rounded finish, but if I was buying a tanzanite (similar colour) I would prefer it cut like diamonds are (faceted) if that makes sense

@scrapsontheside here is the link https://shop.barnardos.org.uk/sterling-silver-amethyst-teardrop

They must have sold as when I click the link they don't show, but they will probably have been "professionally" priced a lot of charity shop have one or two ppl who specialis on certain items watches , jewelry records etc ,

The whole site looks dodgy as hell.
Hmm, perhaps not dodgy just really badly photographed.

That's helpful to know, thank you. I don't know why the link doesn't work but I've attached screenshots in case you are curious. I'm debating saving up for something shinier but these are a nice price. Decisions decisions!

Well, it's Barnardos, I don't think their online retail arm is all that big. I imagine their spending is prioritised elsewhere. However, I agree photos could be better, the item descriptions too.

They are lovely! Buy them! X

Amethyst is not a precious stone (it is classed as semi precious). It's actually a form of quartz, which is one of the most common minerals on Earth. I wouldn't worry about how cheap it is - there is good reason. It seems to be most commonly mounted in silver which also keeps the price down. It one of those lovely things in life which is both cheap and nice! (See also frozen apple strudel 😀).

Buy them! They are very pretty.

They're lovely, I have a amethyst ring they'd really go well with. Was fairly cheap too and from a jeweller

This is the greatest analogy.

The price is fine - amethyst is lovely but inexpensive. Go for it!
