Uniqlo or Lululemon

All the news I see recently about pickpocketing being rife in tourist spots has made me rethink the bag for holiday. I have big boobs so have some doubts about the crossbody thing but they seem to be the safest option. https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/product/round-mini-shoulder-bag-464484.html?dwvar_464484_color=COL15&dwvar_464484_size=SIZ999

orhttps://shop.lululemon.com/p/bags/Everywhere-Belt-Bag//prod8900747?color=65609&sz=ONESIZE

I want to be able to carry iPhone 11, small purse, tissues, lipstic, passport.
I’ve accepted I’ll have to carry a water bottle separately as I don’t want that bulk on my front. If anyone has both, which do you prefer? And are they really that good?

Can only comment on the uniqlo one, but I haven't taken mine off since i bought it 18 months ago.

Goes with everything, fits loads in it, you don't have to take it off to pee (this is very useful not having to find somewhere to hang your bag in a public stall/being able to rummage through your bag easily for tampons etc- this is an absolute boon that I don't see many people talking about!)

I have big boobs and tbh I just let it sit where it needs to.

nomchonge1 · 22/05/2024 15:57

I have the lululemon one - sometimes if the contents is to heavy and the bag is at a slant, the zip can start opening and things fall out so I would avoid that, especially if it is for safety.

Fluffywithteeth · 22/05/2024 17:52

I also have the Uniqlo one (2 of them) and it’s great. I also got a small water bottle in it . Single most useful bag I have 👍🏼

ABirdsEyeView · 22/05/2024 19:20

I think Amazon have some flat crossbody ones with an anti slash strap, which might be handy if you're worried about pickpockets

Verite1 · 22/05/2024 22:28

I have 3 Uniqlo ones in different colours. They are amazing - like a little lightweight tardis. Great for hols! And easily holds a small water bottle

suki1964 · 22/05/2024 23:36

I got something smilier to this for Italy

Not that one, I got a pretty floral one, it held my iphone, passport, vape pipe, tissues, cards and cash

What I loved about it was I could wear it on the inside of my arm when strap hanging on transport and in crowded places

My DD is currently backpacking through Asia and has a purple Uniqlo bag. I see it in all the pictures she sends and when she can leave her backpack in a hostel she wedges everything she needs including a water bottle in it. It definitely is really useful for a day bag and also to use at the same time as a backpack.

Whocanbelieveit · 23/05/2024 00:46

My DD also wears it around her waist at the front like a reverse bum bag 😁

DuploTrain · 23/05/2024 00:48

I love my Uniqlo one. You can fit a bottle of water in it as well, it’s surprisingly spacious.

RookieMa · 23/05/2024 02:21

I have big boobs and DD and I took our Uniqlo cross body bags when we went to Paris last year

The strap is adjustable and fits a water bottle, it's an amazing bag and very light. It's a veritable Tardis of a bag as it fits everything you need.

DD took hers to Reading and I can confirm they wash really well too.

Blueuggboots · 23/05/2024 03:19

pretty floral one

Alwayswonderedwhy · 23/05/2024 07:04

I have the Uniqlo one and I don't like the fact it only has one compartment. I didn't use it on holiday for this reason. I like bags with zip pockets so I know exactly where my phone etc is.

Candleabra · 23/05/2024 07:10

I like Kipling crossbody bags. They come in every size, and loads of colours. I love that they have loads of pockets, and useful clips for keys and compartments. More expensive than the Uniqlo bags but last forever.

It does have 2 side pockets inside. Admittedly not zipped.

CharlotteBog · 23/05/2024 09:51

I think the Lulu one looks like a little wash bag on a strap.

Madcats · 23/05/2024 10:44

Uniqlo do sometimes sell their "two zipped pocket" crossbody bags. They were daft to focus on the single zip version.

I use them all the time and at this time of year I have the strap under a jacket.

I can confirm they comfortable hold a water bottle and Kindle paperwhite.

henlake7 · 23/05/2024 10:49

Uniqlo for me... I have 2 of them and its a style of bag I wear all the time.

Worth mentioning you can get identical dupes from Primark (and probably other shops but Im a cheapskate!!LOL). They are only £7 and you can usually find one for £4 in the sale sections....just in case you wanted to try one without spending alot.😉

2chocolateoranges · 23/05/2024 10:53

Dd has a uniqlo one, she uses it all the time, it fits loads in it and goes with all her outfits.

it’s so good she has ordered another and I’ve ordered 2 of them, all different colours so we can mix and match.

Blueuggboots · 23/05/2024 03:19

although pretty, that is tiny!

Lorrymum · 23/05/2024 13:34

Another vote for Primark, I bought mine for £4.00 and it saw me through a trip to Orlando.

User000001234 · 23/05/2024 13:37

Another vote for the Uniqlo one. I love it taking it to town as where it sits, a pickpocket would have to almost be grabbing my tit to get to the zip.

It's also great for being hands free, holds a decent amount of stuff and comes in a great variety of colours!

Yogachick · 23/05/2024 13:58

Thanks all! I’ve gone for the Uniqlo one. I have a similar one to @suki1964 and use it a lot when I’m here but I’m concerned the skinny strap on mine would be just too easy to slice through. You can tell I’m getting paranoid about this🙄anyway Mumsnet Collective many thanks x
