Job interview - help!

I’ve got a lovely job interview this Friday at a big company in London and I have nothing to wear! I want to look cool, stylish but understated. And 20 years younger and 3 stone lighter.

I’ve got long hair and I’m sort of glamorous but I’m mid-50s and can’t walk in heels anymore.

i used to be slim but recent stress-eating means I’m now a 12-14 with a gut, thighs and chunky upper arms. The outfit must hide all of these, please.

I look nice in dresses, wide trousers, navy blue, teal, dark green and black.

Budget up to £300 including shoes.

Thank you!

Thank you so much, @BigSkies2022 🥰

My manicures are gel, yes. They’re addictive. They just look so much better than anything it’s possible to do at home. Plus gel dries instantly so you don’t ruin it when you’re rummaging for your purse.

I don’t know if gel is any good for your nails, though. And they file your nails half to death with those drill things. I keep telling myself this manicure will be my last, but then I can’t remove the stuff by myself so I have to go back in (they remove it for £10) and then it’s only £15 more to get them done again so I always cave.

I have black in the winter and French in the summer. Now I’ve got just plain, light, shiny pink.

How did it go, @DoingJustFine ?

DoingJustFine · 24/05/2024 19:09

@BlossomBlossomBlossom You are so sweet to remember! The good news is, my outfit was perfect and they even commented on how much they liked it. 👍🏻

I’ll hear early next week. I’m in that awful post-interview slump where you wonder where your personality went for the last 90 minutes.

i would absolutely LOVE that job. I’ll hear “early next week”. Please keep everything crossed.

I'd look on Pinterest and copy an outfit. Trinny always says a silk shirt for an interview with trousers! I'd try and look online rather than just heading to the shops. I just don't have the stamina for shopping and trying on like I used to!

BlossomBlossomBlossom · 24/05/2024 22:44

Grin Some of you don’t even have the stamina to read a relatively short thread …

Fingers crossed @DoingJustFine!

😂 That made me smile. But we’re all busy and details go missing. I bought a vest top from Reiss (to go with the trousers) that I thought (without my reading glasses) was £35. It turned out to be £85.

Did you get the job @DoingJustFine 🙏

DoingJustFine · 03/06/2024 15:18

I still haven’t heard anything so I’m assuming I didn’t.
