Pretty nightie?

I’d like something comfortable and pretty. I want to be able to empty the dishwasher wearing it without the kids making cringe faces. Trying to avoid T-shirt style nighties that make me feel like I’m 12 years old. Also something that DH would consider alluring would be a bonus!

Is anyone wearing something like this that fits the bill? (I’m 5ft 5” and size 14 if it makes a difference)

I have this one from Their Nibs. It's lovely, practically nice enough to wear as a dress.

This is so lovely. I just ordered it and cannot remember the last time I was so excited at the arrival of a nightie!

Mummyoflittledragon · 22/05/2024 04:46

I sleep in easy to wear summer dresses op. That could be worth exploring as an option.

Witchgreen6 · 22/05/2024 08:12

@Mummyoflittledragon ah , now we're talking.
My winter sleepwear consists of thin stretchy leggings, a Uniqlo bra vest with the cup liners removed and either a thin cotton cardigan or zipped cotton hoodie.

Ooo these are nice, how do they hang? I’m a 10 but I don’t want to be clung to ;-). Would you say a small or a medium?

pepperaunt · 22/05/2024 09:20

I kept coming back to that beautiful Their Nibs nightgown until I finally bought it!

I have a few from Cyberjammies (someone else has linked below) and they're cotton/modal, lovely prints, sleeveless, mine are long but come in a shorter version, they wash beautifully, pack up really small, and keep hot sweats at bay. I love them.

Witchgreen6 · 23/05/2024 11:07

Thanks for link @Dreamweaving . Nice stuff at reasonable prices!!

This looks rather good, 100% cotton and it comes in 10-12 🥳

Ohhhhhh, this is loooooovely 😍I am having it! (Or maybe two so I can keep one by my bed when the night sweats strike 😣)

If you actually like tshirt nighties, just wish they looked a bit better, you might like these Lands End ones.

They are lovely cotton and a really nice cut - neckline not too low or high, sleeves are a slightly longer cap sleeve and they flare a bit at the bottom. Super comfy, look really cute and you can safely answer the door in them.

They often have a sale on so you can usually get them for £20ish instead of the normal £40ish. Sizes quite generous as there is plenty of room for me (5ft 9in, size 16) in a Medium (supposedly 14-16).

I would never normally have entertained buying anything from Lands End but I borrowed my mum's nightie for an impromptu stay and liked it so much I have now bought three!

Thanks for this - I've just bought the navy one :) And thanks to Flaoty for starting the thread :)

I second M&S. I bought a couple of their cotton nighties last summer. Very good quality and have washed well. Been told they could be pretty dresses

Oldraver · 26/05/2024 13:07

Witchgreen6 · 17/05/2024 12:35

DOH , just noticed you said sleeveless. Seeing what I want to see .
It's just that I have to sit up in bed and long sleeves would be lovely .
Wonder if I could find an oversized shirt ?

I think a few posters have done links by now anyway but what your needing are nightshirts

I bought two last year from Asda and Sainsburys, they were flanellette so not summer wear but OMG they really help improve my sleeping

The M&S blue one is absolutely gorgeous

Witchgreen6 · 26/05/2024 17:43

Thank you @Oldraver .
I've just ordered these from boohoo.
Hope they fit my rather ample size16

I bought a lovely soft jersey one with long sleeves in Edinburgh Woollen Mill last summer.

MyKhakiDog · 27/05/2024 13:32

I am 72, going to spend a night at my
partners, whom we just met. I need to cover 😍my arms but not full length, and like midi nighties. I want to try to look a bit sexy, but can't find a pretty nightgown or negligee anywhere. Any suggestions. Not black...

Heirian · 28/05/2024 11:22

@Witchgreen6 I have one I love and have worn to pieces from John Lewis, so comfortable, it's not this one but this is similar. https://www.johnlewis.com/nora-rose-by-cyberjammies-frieda-nightdress-white-blue/p111432334

CaravaggiosCat · 18/05/2024 17:53

Ooh I love this, just added it to my wishlist

Bought this - really pretty but a warning the sizing is small and it clings to every lump / bump.
I am losing weight but would advise others to upsize.
