Pretty nightie?

I’d like something comfortable and pretty. I want to be able to empty the dishwasher wearing it without the kids making cringe faces. Trying to avoid T-shirt style nighties that make me feel like I’m 12 years old. Also something that DH would consider alluring would be a bonus!

Is anyone wearing something like this that fits the bill? (I’m 5ft 5” and size 14 if it makes a difference)

I'd love to find a lightweight , non clingy nightie with LONG sleeves . This sounds just the ticket .
Couldn't find it on line but I'll have a look in store.

I bought this when it was on offer. It is quite lightweight cotton and flexible - the long sleeves can roll up if you prefer.

However, the long split means it doesn't keep your legs warm. 🤔

in Australia, we have a shop called Peter Alexander. It has everything you could imagine in sleepwear. Very pricey, but so worth it.
Even the staff get to wear Pyjamas to work.

Witchgreen6 · 20/05/2024 08:58

@Melroses thank you for that .I liked it a lot but it's a bit ££££ for me
I seem to have become obsessed with looking at night wear.
@TheSquareMile love that White nightie site.

Yes - it was pricey and I had spent a lot of time trying to find replacement cotton nightwear. Then it was in a promotion, so I bought it.

I bought a similar style in modal from a different manufacturer and that turned out to be a bit sweaty 😬so even though it was cheaper (relatively speaking) it has turned out to be a dud.

I am currently looking at Visible Mending for my worn nightclothes.

Defiantlynot41 · 20/05/2024 16:19

@MaxandMeg those are lovely

tillytomtiny · 20/05/2024 17:04

I love nightshirts for the same reasons - not too childish, but also still sensible when worn around the house. My go-to is always M&S... Mine are a year or so old but they have these online that might be suitable for you OP?

If you actually like tshirt nighties, just wish they looked a bit better, you might like these Lands End ones.

They are lovely cotton and a really nice cut - neckline not too low or high, sleeves are a slightly longer cap sleeve and they flare a bit at the bottom. Super comfy, look really cute and you can safely answer the door in them.

They often have a sale on so you can usually get them for £20ish instead of the normal £40ish. Sizes quite generous as there is plenty of room for me (5ft 9in, size 16) in a Medium (supposedly 14-16).

I would never normally have entertained buying anything from Lands End but I borrowed my mum's nightie for an impromptu stay and liked it so much I have now bought three!

I have this one from Yawn. I love the cotton material and it's so comfy to wear. I prefer sleeves like this rather than chemise straps as they always dig in to me. https://www.loveyawn.com/collections/last-chance/products/nightdress-pixie-lilac

I love these too, I've got three. The cotton is so soft and light. Gorgeous to sleep in. Nice enough to be a floaty summer dress. Pockets. Wash great and dry quickly.

Hah...I've got two. Haven't paid full price for either as I like a bargain. I wore mine last night for the first time this year. It's summer :)

They are fab, aren't they? I just had a look at the website, though, and there seems to be v little stock. Hope they're OK...!

DOH , just noticed you said sleeveless. Seeing what I want to see .
It's just that I have to sit up in bed and long sleeves would be lovely .
Wonder if I could find an oversized shirt ?

Thats what old fashioned bed jackets were designed for :)

I use a cashmere poncho over silky PJs.
