First they discontinued the in shower tan which was completely fool proof and brilliant for fair skin. After a few “tango” incidents I find their classic gradual tan which doesn’t smell too bad and gave a good result. Not as good as the shower holy grail but adequate. Now I go to buy some for this summer and every review from the last year says they’ve changed the formula and it’s now streaky and smelly. Brill! Currently sporting the express tan that I left for an hour (minimum recommended) and is too fecking dark.

I just want something that works, I can’t be arsed with loads of trial and error and wasted time and money. I need the kind of tan that all the reviews say is too subtle and it needs to be something I can put on in a morning (Christ knows what I’d look like if I applied pre night sweat)

Does anything fit the bill?

I found this quite good, it's the right shade for my pale skin, usually 1-1.5 hours was right.

I'm pale but creamy coloured.

I’ve never had much success with anything that isn’t specifically marketed as being a light shade or for fair skin. There were a few options a few years ago but they seem to have been discontinued. I’ve been through phases of entirely embracing pale and interesting but I do feel better with just the edge taken off the white/blue. I guess there isn’t much of a market for something so subtle.

I’m also almost blue and find the st tropez mousse great.

Briocheloaf · 14/05/2024 21:24

It would need washed off after a few hours though.

Bondi Sands do a cool toned one.

@Briocheloaf is that the express one or a different one? The express one after an hour is a bit dark on me really (I’d apply it for a holiday but it feels too much for every day if that makes sense!) Maybe I just need to wash off after half an hour.

@LutonBeds the Bondi Sands one looks intriguing thanks!

L'Oréal Sublime Bronze Dry Mist- comes in light. Super easy to apply (in the bathtub or shower so it doesn't drop on your floor where you then stand in it), dries very quickly, develops overnight (or during day). Some biscuity smell but good colour

Have you tried gradual tan moisturisers? I'm also very fair and use the Dove one every other day. Love the fact that I can put it on in the morning and not have to wash it off.

Bondi sands gradual tan foam light version is great for my very pale skin. Pretty foolproof when applied with a mitt. Amazon have it for a bargain £9.99.
