How do I keep warm at a garden party?

Hello,
I'm wearing this dress to a garden party next and the weather forecast is currently 20 with showers - I can take an umbrella but I think I need something to keep me warm. I'm assuming that a cardy isn't acceptable?
Is a jacket more appropriate? if so, what type? cropped or longer line?
I have no idea.
Thank you.

20 degrees C is warm though isn't it? Confused

Cold? In this weather?

ByUmberViewer · 13/05/2024 17:08

A cardy is acceptable, but as a PP said, 20 degrees is warm isn't it?

An official event rather than a party in someone's garden? I'm sure a cardigan would be fine - especially if you're expecting the event to go into the evening?

I think you'll be plenty warm enough if it's forecast to be 20 but maybe you could wear some sort of Spanx underneath for an extra layer rather than a jacket so that the dress isn't covered?

It's a formal event rather than someone's garden so I'll be standing about for a few hours and it will be early eve by the time I get home.

I think I do have a bit of a 'thing' about being cold as I get cold quite easily - I think I was built for a warmer climate. I hadn't thought about undergarments so I'll give that some thought.

Thank you for your suggestions

Extra layers underneath are definitely the way to go. Either knickers with legs- Sloggi do them in flesh tone- or aJapanese style kidney warmer (like the bottom bit of a vest, so covering from hips to bra strap) would make a massive difference. Both together might be overkill.

If it’s a formal garden party, then go jacket.

Sheer tights, a cami underneath, and a jacket over the top. 20 degrees isn't very warm! Particularly if you're outside for hours and not leaving until the evening.

Jacket or decent cardigan is fine for when the temperature drops

I'd wear my belted beige coat, which has a name that I forgot!!
