Alternative to T-shirts

For some reason, standard t-shirts look terrible on me. Does anyone else have this problem? What do you wear instead?

I hate t-shirts. They look awful on me. As an alternative I wear boat-neck 3/4 sleeve stretchy tops, or cotton/linen sleeveless tank tops.

I can't wear shorts sleeve t shirts with a crew neck, as I have large boobs and I'm inverted triangle shape, they can make me look to square, I can do a v neck, but I hate the look of short sleeves on me, so I wear a sleevless vest style tops, or a long sleeves,

@GiveYourHeadAWobble @lindyloo57 It sounds like these would suit me. Please can you link to any that you have found recently. I can’t seem to find any that look fashionable and interesting.

I think the problem with a lot of t-shirts is that they're designed for the male body. It's cheaper to make things unisex, but the unisex is male-shaped. I've found the same with, say, Converse, or even watches. I'm a 5/38 in footwear (in reality a 4-and-a-half), but size 5 is now probably half-an-inch over my size.

@Confuzzleduzzled sorry mine are last year and older, I just like vest tops high neck style, mine are last year m&s, you can buy them from most brands , I just brought from m&s a black waistcoat to wear as a top, its the one that only cones in 2 colours back and sage green, I did try 2 other styles from them but that one was the only one that fitted my full bust.

CharlotteRumpling · 12/05/2024 21:53

I like the relaxed fit cotton tshirts from Rapanui. They dont cling to my middle like a lot of tees.

WeRateSquirrels · 12/05/2024 22:00

I look awful in boxy, cotton, crew necks with short sleeves. Loose, drapey (viscose or linen) v necks with cap sleeves are the answer for me.

NahNeedsGarlic · 12/05/2024 22:05

A vest top with an open fitted shirt over works better for me. If I am wearing a t shirt it needs to be v-neck with cap sleeves and shaping at the waist.

lovescats3 · 13/05/2024 11:59

The boxy t shirts work better on me because of my tummy

BigDahliaFan · 13/05/2024 12:00

Got to be a v neck for me. Or a boat neck. I've got broad shoulders and large boobs. A normal t shirt just looks insanely bad on me.

Confuzzleduzzled · 13/05/2024 12:09

It’s good to know I’m not alone in looking terrible in normal t-shirts.
Looks like v-neck or boat neck with cap sleeves is the way to go. It’s just a shame that these are always plain.

I look dreadful in a crew neck t shirt. The best alternative are from Jigsaw. They're a linen mix with a bit of stretch, low scoop neck and three quarter length sleeves. They skim rather than cling and drape nicely, though not sure if they're still on sale anymore? I bought this top in five different colours because it was so flattering.
