Clip on earrings?

What's everyone's opinions on them? I never got my ears pierced and now I don't want to get them done, so I've bought some clip on earrings. Obviously they're not the kids ones, but what's peoples opinions on them?

Ouch... I remember trying on my mother's and they pinched. But from the front nobody can tell whether they are clip-ons or for pierced ears.

I think they would be hard to find these days!

There are some really ingenious ones that loop round the ear. Let me see if I can find some online

Surprisingly they're not! A lot of places are doing normal and clip ons

Claire's have got as many clip on earrings in as actual earrings where I am.

I honestly would have thought they wouldn't need quite that many. Would have thought they wouldn't sell as much I mean.

I just don't think they're that comfortable and wouldn't be that secure

I can no longer wear pierced ones bit have a number of magnetic pairs I bought online for only about $3 a pair. They can hurt if I wear them all day, but otherwise good.

GettingStuffed · 11/05/2024 06:01

I bought some from Temu and they don't pinch but also they stay on. I've inherited some from MiL and they pinch like hell

FormerlySpeckledyHen · 11/05/2024 06:14

I’ve always worn clip on earrings as I don’t like piercings. Some pinch after a while but others don’t. Losing one is the biggest issue.

Claire's ones pinched my dd's ear so badly. Bless her she was so desperate to wear them but she just looked in agony. I got her ears pierced 6 months later and she said that was far less painful than the clip ons!

I have to wear clip on as my ears react really badly to pierced earrings. M&S used to sell some lovely ones, but not seen any recently. John Lewis have some I think. Eternal Collection online look to have some nice ones, depending on your style and of course Etsy. I can only wear them for a very short time and then have to take them off. I'm always finding them in my bags and pockets.

If you're in France or Spain there is a high street chain called Bijou Brigitte which is a bit like Accessorize and they sell lots of clip earrings.

fashionqueen0123 · 11/05/2024 08:18

My daughter had some from Claire’s but they hurt too much. She’s now got them pierced and it wasn’t as bad as the clip ons!

IdontPracticeSanteria · 11/05/2024 08:26

I had my ears pierced as a kid but didn't wear them much then and they healed over.

I'd wear clip ons occasionally over the years but they hurt after a while.

I have just gotten my ears pierced again in my mid 30's and it's so much better. Wish I'd done it sooner.

I’ve seen some great contemporary looking ‘earrings’ that hang from the bit above your earlobe.

My father went on a work trip to Denmark once and brought back the most beautiful silver earrings for my mother. Clip on. Inevitably one got lost. And my mother went and got her ears pierced. But I guess that’s no good if you’re allergic or just prefer not to.

StarlightLady · 11/05/2024 09:50

Ouch! Why the agony of clip ons? Far worse than having your ears professionally pierced. And the clip on pain is continuous.

“Proper” earrings are pain free to wear and lobe piercings heal so quickly.

Comedycook · 11/05/2024 09:53

I wear them because when I got my ears pierced, it was pierced too low and now any earring looks like it's going to make my ear split. And the bloody hole won't close up.

HippyShopper · 11/05/2024 12:02

I can’t wear earrings due to awful allergies so looking for clips ons. Seen ear cuffs online that look lovely so going to try those !

Have you tried titanium piercings or surgical grade?

blackcherryconserve · 12/05/2024 10:21

I've bought very nice clip on earrings from Vinted.
