Skin care for a beginner

Hi. Recently turned 50. Have never had a skin care regime but feel I probably ought to!
I don’t even know where to start. It’s all so confusing.
I’d say I have normal skin with freckles.
I wear makeup only occasionally.
Where do you start? Is it even worth it any more?

I buy the Rose cleanser, toner and moisturiser from boots and use morning and evening. All 3 things cost less than a fiver combined!

And a weekly face mask, £1 from Superdrug.

Cheap and straightforward, does the job.

I'm mid-thirties with freckles if it makes any difference

All you need is SPF in the morning , and to wash it off effectively at night.

Anything else is extra really.

Medik 8 is my go to, they have regimes based on skin type or concern. I'm 52 and if I was you I would be introducing a vit c based serum in the morning and also a one with some retinol in.
