Hair or face?

I have £250 to spend on some beauty treatments.

Im early 50s and debating whether to spend the money on Botox or highlights.

My hair is fairly grey and could do with a whole head of highlights, the money would cover this with probably enough left over to get the parting roots touched up once. Alternatively I could colour it myself with a box dye. I usually do this and it's ok. Thanks to the grey hair it comes out with different shades in it and looks kind of highlighted anyway.

Or, I imagine the money would cover one session of Botox. I have 11s between my eyes which I hate and would love to reduce. I wouldn't want any other areas.

Which would you do? Botox or highlights?

Ps I have posted in style and beauty. I know I can't turn back time, I'd just like to look like a slightly better version of what I am now!

£250 plus a little extra… , you should be able to get both (if you get just one area of botox) and presuming not a hair salon in central london

circumventM · 10/05/2024 15:30

but zero point getting either if you can’t afford to do regularly

circumventM · 10/05/2024 15:31

Are the 11s very established?

suntannedsnowballsinhellskitchen · 10/05/2024 15:32

Botox for 11s. You will look well slept and refreshed.

minipie · 10/05/2024 15:36

Neither tbh. If you can only afford a one-off I’d do something that lasts longer, like teeth whitening or some new clothes or makeup. Botox and highlights only last a few months and you might end up feel worse if you can’t afford to redo them.

(If you can afford to redo then ignore me!)

Hair every time. I don't disagree with botox exactly but personally I just wouldn't.

Edawson · 10/05/2024 15:44

I would use that money to buy a Beautifect Box. Long lasting with perfect lighting to make you look flawless everyday!! I love mine! Currently saving for one of the limited edition ones!

I’d have a spa weekend so that I felt refreshed and maybe get a massage. Either of those as a one off will just make you depressed when they wear off and need redoing!

not a chance you’d get a nice spa over the weekend with a treatment for £250!!

I can afford to keep getting it done regularly, but not both!

The 11s are fairly established, yes Confused

if you can afford to have been getting your hair highlighted regularly, then why haven’t you? obviously not that important to you… so give botox a whirl

"if you can afford to have been getting your hair highlighted regularly, then why haven’t you? obviously not that important to you… so give botox a whirl"

That's very true! I stopped getting it done over Covid, had it done a couple of times since and yes, it didn't really look that different to when I do it myself.
Decision made!

Now to find someone decent to do it Confused

Where are you? There's enough of us here having botox that we could probably cover most of the country recommendation wise. I'm East Mids and go to a great private Dr for mine that I'd happily recommend if that's useful?

MattDamon · 11/05/2024 11:47

You've already decided but I would have said hair. Nice hair, nails, teeth and brows go a long way to looking polished.

yetanothernayme · 11/05/2024 15:16

Thank you @ThreeTescoBags , but I'm in the South East.

Does anyone have any recommendations for West Sussex/ Gatwick area?

In the meantime try the Nivea serum. I used it when I noticed forehead lines and now they've gone.

Amx · 11/05/2024 15:48

Botox. I love it.

OldTinHat · 11/05/2024 15:53

Unless you can afford to keep either up on a regular basis, then, just no.
