Hairy arms, remove or leave well alone ?

WishIwas40 · 09/05/2024 22:35

I have always had fair hair on my arms which has never bothered me and was only really noticeable if I got goose bumps and it stood on end !
It has now become more noticeable and in the wrong light my arms look furry especially the bottom part where the hair is quite long.
So MN should I have the hair removed and if so how ? or will this make it worse and I would be better to leave well alone ?

I have super hairy arms thanks to PCOS but it gets to a point where I razor it all off and start again!

OhGingleBells · 09/05/2024 22:39

I shave mine every couple of days. Takes seconds!

Pancakefam · 09/05/2024 22:41

Wouldn't worry about it. I doubt anyone notices

worcesterpear · 09/05/2024 22:46

I would leave it, I can see why women wouldn't necessarily want hairy legs but don't see what is wrong with hairy arms. It is a nicer look than completely bald arms in my opinion.

geoger · 09/05/2024 22:49

Wax it off. Lovely and smooth and will grow back finer

Iggityziggety · 09/05/2024 22:52

I veet mine every now and again, mainly in summer

PuppetQueen · 09/05/2024 22:56

I've always left my arm hair (and wasn't aware of anybody who removed theirs when I was growing up), but my teen DDs shave their forearms, so maybe having arms that are hair-free is more of a thing now.

AnneShirleysNewDress · 09/05/2024 22:56

Eyeebrow razors do a good job on arm hair.

Comedycook · 09/05/2024 22:57

I epilate mine...hurts a bit though!

BringMeSunshineAllDayLong · 09/05/2024 22:57

What's wrong with a bit of hair?!

SaulHudsonDavidJones · 09/05/2024 22:59

I find shaved arms weird. Probably because I grew up with most girls shaving their legs while arms remained au natural. The thought of stubble on my arms gives me the heebie jeebies. Just leave them, no one notices or cares.

Limberinta · 09/05/2024 22:59

Why would you want yet another thing to have to maintain and potentially ingrown hair on your arms? Arm hair is perfectly normal... I'm stunned people remove it

SunshineOnARainyDay3 · 09/05/2024 23:05

Lightly epliate. That way you can "thin" the hair without removing it all. I don't like shaven arms nor super hairy ones so this is a good middle ground. I really need to do mine now it's t-shirt weather!

CJ0374 · 09/05/2024 23:06

I bought an IPL years ago for my legs, but did use it on my forearms a few times. Mine weren't that hairy, but the hair reduced by about half. They are a little furry, but not overly so and not super smooth either. A colleague who had very dark hair removed all of hers with a home IPL. If it bothers you, remove it. An IPL may not be an option though if yours is really light.

Joolsin · 09/05/2024 23:09

I like the hair on my arms. It was very dark when I was younger but has lightened as I've got older. I can't imagine what a bloody pain it would be keep on top of removing it.

SabreIsMyFave · 09/05/2024 23:12

Surely light coloured hair looks hardly noticeable?

Can we see a photo? (Your face doesn't need to be seen.)

JustMaggie · 09/05/2024 23:16

I would leave it alone. I don't think many people would notice or care about arm hair.

JL690 · 09/05/2024 23:20

I would leave it. I remove all my body hair but leave it on my arms and think my arms would look weird if I removed it.

rainbowlou · 09/05/2024 23:21

I epilate mine

WishIwas40 · 10/05/2024 06:17

Thank you for all the advice, definitely nothing wrong with a bit of hair and it’s likely no one else really notices, I’m just not loving the furry look !
I don’t want to shave them so will do some research on IPL and waxing
once again thank you all for the sound advice.

Honestly I shave mine, regrowth is barely noticeable due to i hi ow fine it is. Takes seconds, IPL and waxing is painful and totally not necessary if the hair is really fine and blonde

AppleKatie · 10/05/2024 06:34

I occasionally shave mine- badly and quickly 😂

I like to think this has the effect of thinning out the hair without making my arms look obviously ‘shaved’. A middle ground if you will.

Mairzydotes · 10/05/2024 06:40

Once you start removing hair , there is a lot of maintenance. Being hairy looks better than stubble.

WishIwas40 · 10/05/2024 07:27

@Mairzydotes this is my concern and why I don’t want to shave, maybe I will just embrace the hair !

My mum used to bleach her arm hair with Veet / Jolene, and so did I growing up. It did make it a bit less noticeable, but I stopped doing it as I got older. I've noticed other women with hairy arms and even models, and it doesn't look bad at all. I think it looks cool! Fuck it : )

On a side note - my mum ended up fully lasering her arm and leg hair. I think her arms look a bit like one of those fur-less cats, it feels a bit unnatural.
