Hair straighteners - are the budget ones any good?

In the past I had GHDs but they were lost to a teenage family member. Looking to buy some now and didn't realise hair straighteners are now the cost of a weekend mini break! (Am I just old??)

I've seen some positive comments about Remington options for circa £100, does anyone use more budget friendly straighteners and find them ok, or is it really worth paying for GHDs/Cloud 9?

I have fine textured hair though tonnes of it. It's naturally straight so doesn't need loads of going over but it can be rather frizzy and shapeless without styling. Any advice?

I'm a hairdresser & beauty therapist and find Diva straighteners very good.

I bought DD Babyliss ones and they are surprisingly good and extremely reasonably priced.

Don’t get the Tymo straightening comb that’s all over FB. It’s shit.

I've got these and they're great! My GHD's died and I couldn't/wouldn't pay the prices that they are now so glad I found these :)

Mine were about £35 from Argos. Think they're coconut infused too. Not sure of the make but they are brilliant. My hair is extremely thick and wavy but these straighten it no problem. The only complaint I have about them is that outside plate area gets red hot but I always straighten my hair with a hair brush and straighteners so only need to hold the handle.

You can get refurbished GHDs from this website - https://ghdrecycle.com/collections/refurbished-ghd-straighteners DD bought some before Christmas and they are like new. I think she paid around £65.

Thanks all, will have a good look at all these. I asked my hairdresser what she recommended, she said cloud 9 and most of them are £200-300 😦 I can understand a professional paying that much but it seems crazy for home use!

Not sure why, but I suddenly thought about this thread this morning whilst straightening my hair. I couldn't remember at the time when posting previously what brand mine were. They're Remmington's and excellent for 30 odd quid.
