Clothes sizing

Does anyone think clothes sizing is just a number?

This week I've worn a size 6-8 , tried on a 12 which fit me around but was too short in the body.

I'm a fairly standard size 16.

Isn't it time that we just get actual clothes measurements like Men do,?

I'm a standard 12 and wouldn't fit one of my legs in a 6/8!

I'm a 14 and have some things in a 10, some in a 12 and some in a 14, but never above a 14. Makes me think about vanity sizing.

Its all very random. Im a 10 in most things even though according to size charts I should be a 12 or 14!
Also people rarely have the perfect pear shape figure that all clothes companies seem to measure by.

I think it depends on your body shape and how average it is but the brands are also guilt in inconsistency.
I used to have some things in 10, some in 12, some in 14 but I always was bigger at the bottom so no surprise. Now due to menopause my bust is bigger so no size 10 anymore just 12 or 14 depending on the style. But it does bugger me when the same style T-shirts from the same brand sit absolutely differently, makes ordering online very challenging.
