I’m building a summer capsule wardrobe going for using blues as main colour focus for most pieces, adding in whites and neutrals, but want to add in a another colour for variety… what colour do you think would work best? Any ideas much appreciated

Sounds abit similar to my wardrobe (Ive accidently made a capsule wardrobe by always picking the same colour palettes!).
My wardrobe is mainly creams, blues, some gray. Then as alot of the blues are dusty, faded tones I also have some sage green, dusky pink works quite well too.

Depends on your colouring and whether you want a bright contrast or something more tonal. If you want a bright contrast then red or orange, a clear pink or lime green. If you want something that tones then teal, turquoise a soft pink or purple. SOme good ideas here

What Colours Go With Blue Clothes? (Fashion 2023)

People who are into fashion are unbothered and can pull off no matter what they wear. They are already knowledgeable in mixing and matching clothes as well as for the color scheme. But how about those who struggle even with mixing and matching colors?...

Depends on your colouring and whether the blues are warm or cold. If warm I think coral would be lovely.

I agree with coral, I love mixing it in with greys and blues in summer

My summer wardrobe is pretty much all different shades of blue - navy, denim or white with cobalt, sky blue or turquoise and silver jewellery. I sometimes add in some of the charcoal / silver grey out of my winter wardrobe. Occasionally I also wear green.

Bright pink, orange, yellow or lime green all good.

OhFortheLoveOv · 04/05/2024 13:14

Thanks, I’ve gone for navy and warmer shades… pastel blue tends not to look work for my skin tone . though I can get away with a light bright cornflower blue and have a lovely maxi
I hadn’t really considered grey.
I love dresses so that’s the bulk of my wardrobe, But I really need to branch out and get some separates however as big busted apple shape with little legs and big tummy buying trousers, shorts and tops put fear of god in me as regardless I tend to look boxy or like I’m 6 months pregnant!
Should I stick to what I know or are there options out there that would work?

For navy, how about mint?

As you are not going for really bright blue, a pop of bright pink or yellow would work well, and green or turquoise in the right shade will always work well with blues.
