I am about to buy these ugly trainers, but you can save me...

Looking for something to transition from boots to sandals. I am 51, only 5.1" and definitely want the height otherwise my outfits just look like crap, plus I'll have to adjust all my trousers. My style is AllSaints meets Sezane, or so I like to kid myself it is. So!! I was thinking trainers, and these are the ones I have found that provide the most height. Ideally I'd like them to be less white, and I am not even a trainer fan, but I am compromising here. Thoughts?

The flatform sole is a bit weird to my eye but apart from that they are fairly neutral. I wouldn’t worry too much about them. And they are fairly cheap.

Freakinfraser · 02/05/2024 07:14

They really do have a very high platform. …

TheCodingClubClub · 02/05/2024 07:22

Happy to be shown some alternatives! A boot/sneaker hybrid would be good, but I can't find anything that's high enough.

I agree.

I would hardly notice them although if I did I would probably think of Baby Spice.

Don't do it OP! They are really very ugly lol. I have some converse lifts and they are very comfy

XiCi · 02/05/2024 12:44

I find converse the best for platform trainers. The chuck Taylor ones come in white and other colours. Converse Ox are also platform

Not nice I'm afraid.

Second PP above - the platform converse are great and nice and comfy. Wearing a pair right now (i'm short and these make wearing midi skirts/dresses much better fit for me!)

mynameiscalypso · 02/05/2024 16:54

I've never found Zara shoes to be very comfortable

BoudiccaOfSuburbia · 02/05/2024 17:10

They are horrible: it’s the mix of platform and wedge that makes the sole v ugly IMO.

Lily193 · 02/05/2024 19:50

The Converse are really awful. Avoid.

MissAtomicBomb1 · 02/05/2024 20:25

How about some platform low Nike blazers or just plain white Air force 1s. I'm tinier than you and find that they give me a bit of extra height without looking like I'm trying too hard!

Spice girls trainers! Awful.

Deargodletitgo · 03/05/2024 06:24

I bought something near identical from Next, but they are silver, and really comfortable.

Pumas are a good option too tho

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 03/05/2024 06:34

I like these.

You can completely customise converse with whatever colours and embroidery and whatever you want too, and it's only about £20 extra.

ThePoshUns · 03/05/2024 06:34

Eww you'd look like a retired spice girl OP.

TheExclusiveSandwich · 03/05/2024 06:39

You don’t need the height.

Honestly I do need the height otherwise my outfits look like pants! Okay so the Zara ones are out, but the one's you lovely people have linked to, although much better looking, are just not high enough. What does everyone think of these as a compromise?

Is it the wedge/angle or overall height you need? Height isn’t important to me it’s the slight angle to make my calf’s look better that it important.
