Like to wear something like leggings under but what colour? Pls

Black leggings and either red or black shoes.

Some thick coloured tights of one of the colours in the dress (have a look at snag tights) black leggings and black shoes won't really work, IMO.

She would then look like Grayson Perry or Eddie Izzard.

Your very colourful shirt, I would pair with some flowy white linen trousers and a white camisole underneath. Perhaps with a bold chunky necklace in a mustard or teal shade.

Stripey jeans I’d go with either a white slim fitting t-shirt, or a cami with a loose white linen shirt buttoned artfully, baggy rolled up cuffs, etc.

The shirt/?dress is let down by the high/low hem that reveals the backside of the fabric on the low/back part. I’d be interested to see how the retailer intended it to be styled.

I wonder how the retailer intends for it to be worn too. I inherited it so I haven't any info or history about it

If you love the fabric, I'd get that dress adjusted and turn it into a shirt to wear with jeans or black trousers/skirt. Some gold jewellery and red heels (or pick another colour from the pattern) would dress it up.

For the stripy jeans, I'd go for a white or black top.

In my minds eye I see it as an evening meal on holiday type dress. That you’d throw on after a shower, letting your hair air dry, sunglasses and Birkenstocks on and you’re good to go.

Hmm, I think it's too casual for a posh restaurant in town. I think the trousers would be better with a fitted T, and some chunky gold or silver jewellery
