I've never had long hair before. I've been growing it to donate it as part of my '40 before 40' bucket list. I thought I'd grow it till just before the big birthday, but it's grown so quickly I'll have got to the length they ask for in about 2 years rather than 4.

I'm going to a gig tonight. It's my first night out in about 3 years, and I'd really like to look nice but have no idea what to do with 'the mop'. Feels like such a waste to keep putting it in a braid.

It's got a light wave to it, and is very prone to frizz despite being gifted a silk pillowcase. It gets cut pretty regularly, I use a mask on it now and again and alternate between washing and co washing. I thought perhaps the waves meant there was more of a curl there so bought some shampoo to see but it just made it feel very greasy and need washing more often.

I'd love beachy hair like I see on other women, and have the length for it, but it just ends up being flat on top and frizzy in the middle.

Feel like there's a solution out there.

Help?!

Do you blow dry it or just let it air dry? Blow drying gives you much more options with long hair - get a round brush of a decent size, then you can pull it straight or encourage your curl.

Not much help when you’re off out tonight but I absolutely swear by my air wrap dryer. Dyson and Shark do them. Mine is a Shark. It is brilliant and comes with the curler barrels and some brushes for different styles.

@GoingRoundThatBlockAgain I usually air dry, but I do have a big round brush and a decent hair dryer so can give it a go. I find atm if I get the waves right before I leave the house they're almost straight by the time they get anywhere, and if I straighten it then it goes wavy! Can't win. Maybe blow drying it will give it more hold. Thanks.
