Where to buy clothes for DS 16yo - 6'5"?

My son is tall and showing no sign of stopping growing. He's got a 30" waist and 36" inside leg. He's 6'5" tall, so long of body as well as leg. But he's a teenager and skinny as a rail.

I'm really having difficulty finding affordable clothes for both smart and casual wear. We've bought everything ASOS has to offer in 30/36 (not that there was much!) Next is useless, as is M&S. I'm not a shopper and google is failing me.

Everywhere I've found online conflates tall with big/heavy - so I might find 36" leg but then find that the item only starts at a 36" waist.

The search is driving me insane! Please help Smile

If you only need 34 inside leg, Calvin Klein goes down to a 28 inch waist and they also have some season reductions. I think we bought a sixth form suit from them way back when.

Cyclingmummy1 · 18/09/2024 22:59

Anyone seen evening trousers in 30/34?

I've bought a DJ off vinted and resold the (short) trousers. M&S are too short, though I was overly excited that they had a 33 leg in store 😆

Waspie · 19/09/2024 11:42

Next do a 35" leg @Cyclingmummy1 - that's where we bought DS' school suits. Not sure what evening wear they have though. M&S were no use, although the woman in the suit dept. did say that lots of their 33" have a deep hem if you wanted to try some DIY adjustment!

I've only seen Bad Rhino stuff on BooHoo Man where they seem to stock big, rather than tall. I'll have a google though. Thanks @GettingStuffed

At least you found some @Glassbottom - good luck with dying the cargos. I dread DS growing again and having to try and source 38" leg - 36 is challenging enough.

Worth checking in periodically with T K Maxx, at the moment they have jeans from Boss, Levi’s and others from 28L up at £39.99.

DS got a pair of Tommy Hilfiger jeans in TK Maxx in 32"/36" a few months back for less than £30 - he was dead chuffed.

Thanks @waspie One of his school suits is Next and it's a fraction longer than M&S. Can't buy evening trousers and let them down as the side tape doesn't go round the hem.

I have this issue with DH. He’s 6’3 so not huge huge but he’s got a very small waist (a 28 can be loose, he measures 25/26) but also broad shoulders and muscular thighs. He needs a 26/34 with stretch for his legs. This apparently does not exist and therefore he genuinely does not own trousers.

Passthecake30 · 15/04/2025 21:55

Awakening this thread as my 6ft3 son is having a clothing crisis. He’s only 8st10, currently gets away with boohoo tall XS joggers that suit his 36” legs but is struggling with finding hoodies, need to be a couple of inches longer than standard and not massively baggy. He likes completely plain clothes (doesn’t want to be a walking advert he says, which is fine by me, as cheaper!).
I’m 6ft myself and have a couple of boohoo men’s hoodies but he doesn’t like them, says they are too baggy/arms too long.

anyone?

Riverlee · 15/04/2025 21:58

My 6’ 5 son gets a lot in ASOS. Luckily the trend is ‘oversized’ so he goes for xl.

next online do tall clothing as well.

Passthecake30 · 15/04/2025 22:05

Thanks @Riverlee I can’t see any plain hoodies on either but I’ll keep an eye out. Just had a look at Amazon and some hoodies come up big and tall but not slim and tall sadly! My son is really very thin atm so the over sized stuff doesn’t really work, but here’s hoping he bulks up soon.

EmotionallyWeird · 16/04/2025 11:29

Strange suggestion I know, but my DH is almost as tall and also very skinny, and he has sometimes found women's long or extra long size jeans to be a solution. They go down to smaller waist sizes and women tend to have longer legs relative to their overall height. Obviously some are more suited to curvy hourglass shapes but others are pretty straight.

Choresavoidance · 16/04/2025 15:14

My son likes Hollister for plain hoodies - might be worth a try

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 16/04/2025 15:59

Abercrombie and Fitch do longer length.

TwoBlueFish · 16/04/2025 16:02

Try River Island, their extra long is 36”

Pinepeak2434 · 16/04/2025 16:03

16 yr old tall son buys quite a lot of his clothes from Urban Outfitters. He likes the long baggy jeans look.

Waspie · 16/04/2025 16:55

I was going to say Abercrombie & Fitch too @ArseInTheCoOpWindow

French Connection do extra long hoodies. DS has one and it's lovely.

So glad I came across this thread! Ds is only 5’11 but has 38” inside leg and a 28” waist. It’s almost impossible to get clothes with long enough arms and legs but small waist sizes! Levi’s are available in small waist and long leg, I usually get them on Vinted, but will be checking out some of the suggestions on here too

Hoppinggreen · 16/04/2025 18:29

DDs BF is 6ft 5 and shops at Hollister and Levi for trousers

It really depends on how slim they are and whether they qlso have long torsos or whether they are all legs. My son is very slim and all legs 6’5’ so he really struggles. Whereas DH is 6’4’ less slim less leggy and he has much more choice.

jonnyhatesjazzzzz · 20/04/2025 11:18

Has anyone got suggestions for shoes size 13/14?? Not trainers or school shoes. Need something smart / casual for a wedding and other events. Really struggling!

jonnyhatesjazzzzz · 20/04/2025 12:50

Thanks- we’ve trawled through both of those but he thinks he wants loafers and none in his size! I’ve just ordered some off some random website so will see what they’re like!

Waspie · 20/05/2026 12:07

Just resurrecting this thread as I’ve found cheap joggers for the over 6’1” tall on Amazon. I’ve bought some for DS. They have two fittings - 6’1” to 6’4” and 6’5” and over: https://amzn.eu/d/061XhhQF

I hope you managed to get those size 13 shoes! Luckily DS is still only a size 10 (he’s not grown that much over the last two years, thankfully!).

We now need a prom suit for his year 13 prom. I think we’ll just push the boat out and go to Spoke (or similar) and get a nice shirt, tie and shoes to go with it.

Hope your dc haven’t got too enormous and you’re looking forward to the summer break!

Waspie · 20/05/2026 13:04

I was thinking that the new suit would see him through university (assuming no further growth!) as well as the sixth form prom.

I’ve sent that link to my beanpole, thanks. Not quite such a beanpole anymore, getting chunkier 😆
