Which dress for awards?

I have an industry awards dinner coming up and trying to decide between 2 dresses

Dress 2 (pic attached) velvet, full length, colour is dark green/teal

Which one do you think is more appropriate?

They are very different. One is very striking and the other is much more low key and conservative. You must have a preference?

My conservative side is battling my magpie tendencies 😂I do quite like the striking dress plus sequins for an awards dinner seem appropriate. However, I think I will be more comfortable in the second dress, and it will be much more versatile, I can see wearing it to other occasions ...

I like the linked one but would look infinitely better in the velvet. You should wear the one that suits you and makes you feel good. They're both suitable for an awards event.

Agree, plus sequins could be unforgiving, whilst velvet will just fall out.. I think I am starting to lean towards the second option..

2nd one definitely - the colour is stunning!

The sequin one will/might be uncomfortable due to no sleeves and a halter neck top. I wore a sequin jumpsuit in a similar style at the weekend and my neck and arms were sore! Love it though, but would rather be comfortable! Wasn't so bad after a few drinks to be honest though.

Oh they are both glorious! I couldn't possibly chose, which is no help whatsoever. Sorry!

I am known as a very opinionated girl but agree with the PP here. They do appear to be for very different type of events though. Sitting on this fence is hurting my bum, sorry!

Quick update, I couldn't resist it and bought the Warehouse sequinned dress! Mulling over buying the velvet one too

I like both. The first one is much more fun and feels more like Summer, the second one is a bit Autumnal/Winter. If the first one looks good on I would go for it as it’s an awards dinner and seems more celebratory.

I agree with this. Velvet to me is an autumn/winter look so I'd go with the first one for that reason. They're both lovely though!
