Filler or thread lift

I am considering a thread lift for my jowels but there seems to be a lot of negativity around them. Has anyone has filler in the lower face to help with definition in there 50's ?

Filler or thread lift

I've had filler in along the jawline and it gave me a lovely definition. I don't know much about thread lifts but my practitioner doesn't recommend them.

SallyDraper · 23/04/2024 18:18

Thank you @Slidingdoorsshut , I definitely feel that I need a bit of a lift in the area but want it to be as natural as possible.

If that’s you and you’re 50+ I wouldn’t change a thing! Can’t see any jowls, you look great (the bit I can see anyway)

user09876543 · 23/04/2024 18:22

I genuinely don’t think you need anything yet. Certainly not threads

witchseason · 23/04/2024 18:24

Fillers. Though it doesn't look like you need much of a lift!

I'd avoid thread lifts. I know one person who had this done and the improvement was barely detectable, and apparently it was painful afterwards.

SallyDraper · 23/04/2024 18:25

Yes @minipie I didn't want to post full face . I'm 55 and I have definitely noticed a change lately, although I've never had a super defined jawline sadly.

@witchseason That"s what I was worried about, they are expensive so I would need to feel it was worth it.

You have a delicate, feminine jawline and fillers will only add bulk and make it square. I’d leave it be.

Wouldn't they put filler in the cheekbone area first to give lift?

My appointment is in a few weeks so I will definitely ask this question, thank you.

From what I can see here you have no jowls, you look great!

OhamIreally · 23/04/2024 19:28

You look fabulous! You should see my jowls!

user09876543 · 23/04/2024 21:20

When they put in jawline filler they apparently also put in chin filler to drop the chin. I’m having it on Thursday. You really don’t need it though.

PineappleTime · 23/04/2024 21:24

My recent guilty pleasure is plastic surgery critique videos on YouTube so obviously despite never having had any tweakments I'm now an expert 😄
thread lifts don't last very long and filler can't reverse the effects of gravity which is why some women look over stuffed as they try to replace volume in the face lost by the face dropping. Personally I wouldn't touch either with a barge pole (and I'm getting jowly too)

SallyDraper · 23/04/2024 21:36

@user09876543 Do come back and let me look how it goes, good luck x

@PineappleTime The lady that I'm going to see does really natural work , I know the look you mean but none of her ladies look like that.

Don’t bother with a thread lift. Waste of money. My surgeon won’t do them.

MothersofGorgons · 23/04/2024 23:00

You don't have jowls.

Legoqueens · 24/04/2024 10:14

They suggest some filler in the upper face to give a lift first.

user09876543 · 25/04/2024 12:12

So I’ve been this morning. I had what my practitioner calls “pre jowl” so the correction was at a relatively early stage. I had a LOT of filler. You can see from the cream where she injected.

Wow @user09876543 that is fabulous, you must be very pleased. How much filler did you have? Was it very expensive? It's a very impressive result and it looks so natural.

OP posts:
user09876543 · 25/04/2024 13:29

It's a definite glow up! It's a lot of filler - 7ml. But that is in cheeks too. All the places you can see a white blob of numbing cream basically. I now feel like I've been punched in the face. I'm downing water like it's going out of fashion and have been told no exercise for two weeks and to try to stay as upright as possible when sleeping.

SallyDraper · 25/04/2024 13:33

Well it looks wonderful @user09876543 , I hope the recovery goes well. I would be delighted with your result. Thank you for sharing, take care.x

Fair play @user09876543 that does look good

user09876543 · 25/04/2024 13:42

Thanks both. It was scary making the decision to go for it but I think it looks better. Its my 50th treat to myself.
