Looking for pretty, comfortable sandals

WaterWall22 · 23/04/2024 12:59

Inspired by the current Birkenstock thread...

Can anyone help me find comfortable sandals that are also pretty? I want to be able to walk in them so would like proper soles but not typical walking sandals. I have Saltwater sandals but find them too flat to be nice looking with skirts or even that comfortable.

I quite like the look of these https://olukai.co.uk/products/waiau-womens-leather-slingback-sandals-silver?currency=GBP&variant=45276290187554&utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=Google%20Shopping&stkn=fe172cebc4b5&gad_source=1

I'm not familiar with the brand and not sure they'd be comfortable enough for longer walks in a city/on cobbled streets.
Some of the Fitflop ones look quite nice too but perhaps a little bulky.

Any ideas?

These are they. Have them in tan, white and rose gold. They also come in black and navy.

Just checked vinted and there’s a new with tags pair in size 7 tan at £30- they’re around £100 new.

Agree @WhereAreWeNow , I'm also worried about the thin straps! Also quite pricey to try my luck with. Few people have recommended Pikolinos, had never heard of those before. Dune also seems to have few nice styles like some have suggested.

Air and Grace sandals are very comfortable. Though rather pricey.

PontiacFirebird · 27/04/2024 16:40

I I have just bought two pairs of sandals at Pikolinos… so lovely! Never even heard of them before. I blame you people for another impulse buy…!

KirstenBlest · 27/04/2024 18:06

@PontiacFirebird , The quality is good.

KirstenBlest · 27/04/2024 18:18

Which ones did you order?

Churchview · 27/04/2024 18:18

I've been wearing this style from Josef Seibel for a couple of years. They are so comfortable, much prettier on than they look - tat crossover strap is ever so flattering. Come in lots of different colours. When I was trying on a new pair in the shop last week two other customers also tried them on as they said they looked so good ....and I have really non pretty feet so they must be nice. https://josefseibel.co.uk/products/josef-seibel-tonga-25?variant=42444084379891

JOSEF SEIBEL Tonga 25

JOSEF SEIBEL Tonga 25, with its wrap-around cork sole, will provide the ultimate all-day comfort. Its adjustable straps and practical wedge heel make this a very versatile slip-on style that is the perfect choice to finish any look.

I have these hotter sandals and they are heavenly to wear with great arch support. They’re unobtrusive and pretty classic/neutral, like birkenstocks (I have them in brown), and look nice with skirts or trousers. Agree about saltwaters being too flat - I wear them in the beach as I can paddle in them but they’re too thin soled for cobbled streets etc.

I also have some brightly coloured tevas for off-road walking in the summer, so comfortable.

KirstenBlest · 27/04/2024 19:12

Those were the ones I meant @KnitFastDieWarm , they look great

APurpleSquirrel · 27/04/2024 19:18

I have these two - both are very comfy. The Clark's ones look good & the Trespass ones don't look are clumpy as normal walking sandals.

Granada and formentera 😍

KirstenBlest · 27/04/2024 19:54

Thanks. I love the formenteras and the mahons.

Sorry to thread hijack but do you think these would be any good on wide feet?

Are they true to size or do they come up big/small?

KirstenBlest · 27/04/2024 20:48

JS tend to come up slightly big but I don't know about that style, @AlanBrendaCelia .
@NotARealWookiie , worth a try.

I bought these in tan at John Lewis. I have long flat feet and find most sandals are too tall in my size so I really like the adjustable strap. It does go quite wide.

Recommend you try them on instead of ordering online if you can!

LovelyDaaling · 27/04/2024 21:35

Many garden centres sell shoes and sandals. Worth look.

I'm almost always a 7 (41) but I bought these in a 6.5 (40), so I agree with @KirstenBlest they come up a bit bigger than size. All three straps are adjustable too, so really good for narrow or wide (in my case) feet.

Cakewineorgin · 27/04/2024 22:04

I second Malibu granola sandals. They are so comfortable that I have several pairs and live in them during the summer. Thanks to the previous poster for the link, as I now can buy some new colours that I haven’t seen before.

Nail123 · 27/04/2024 22:52

Hush Puppies used to be really pretty…not as much now but really comfy. Can walk for miles.

I know this isn’t the point, but sandals have really shot up in price this year!

Agree. I've noticed this too. I've been buying Fitflops for years and the price has nearly doubled over the space of just a few years!

If you ever fly into Alicante and have a hire car make sure you visit the Pikolino store at Elche. It’s shoe heaven and you have XTI, Wonders plus other Spanish shoes manufacturers with shops there.
