Dress maker recommendations

Hi all

I have nothing that’s fits, I hate my body, I hate trying on clothes.
I have no idea what type of styles fit my body or what colours suit me.

are there any dress makers out there that not only do they design and make but will know what suits your body and what colour/pattern fabric would be best?

im based in Bromley

I just have absolutely no clue about any of it. I very rarely find things I like in shops. I’m fed up of hating leaving the house cause of what I look like so want to start changing things.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I’m not sure such a thing exists OP. I tried looking for a dressmaker a few years ago and drew a blank, apart from wedding dressmakers , which I wasn’t in need of at the time! One of them would have drafted a shirt pattern for me, and made it up, but it would have been very expensive.

However, I think you might benefit from a few sessions with a personal stylist. Someone who can analyse your body shape and colouring and suggest the colours and styles that would suit you. And, as part of the service, a wardrobe refresh and personal shopping.

It will cost a bit but if you find someone you are comfortable with, it could give you a huge boost in confidence and save you effort and money in the long run because you’ll know exactly what to buy.

I would do a bit of Googling and see who’s in your area. It sounds like you need face to face rather than one of the online services.

Having your colours done followed by a style day will transform your and make clothes shopping easy for the rest of your life. One of the best investments you will make for your self.

thanks for taking the time to reply.
I will have a google thanks for your thoughts. Definitely would prefer someone in person. Wish I knew someone that had used one.

I had my colours done by House Of Colour more than 30 years ago and can’t think of any money better spent, and I know I have saved a fortune over the years by not buying the wrong things. It was such a confidence booster and my new look inspired 3 colleagues to do it too.

HOC probably have someone to cover your area.

Good luck with what ever you do.

Thanks so much! I will look into them.

The other tip is to size up and have things altered. Shops used to do this and some specialist dry cleaners do.
