First Time Botox Regrets

I’m 28 with a very expressive face and as such have noticed some lines in my forehead. I thought as some preventative measure I may as well give Botox a go which I did 2 weeks ago.

I’m not happy with the results (went to a very experienced practitioner with great reviews and work), I don’t believe it’s any fault of the practitioner but I just don’t like the way it looks on me. I can’t raise my eyebrows at all and I feel like my forehead looks larger and eyebrows seem further down — I look glum!

So, two questions!

  1. Truthfully, how long until this is likely to wear off?
  2. Will my face return to how it was pre Botox? Really don’t want this to be my new face!

Thank you!

It will take 3-6 months depending on how much you like the gym. And your face will return to normal.

28 is far too young to be thinking about this unless you absolutely need a poker face for professional reasons.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 20/04/2024 21:23

Your face will 100% return to normal, you will gradually see a bit of movement returning fairly soon, and you will also get used to your current face and stop feeling anxious about it. Honestly don't panic, it is temporary.

If your eyebrows feel pushed down, did the practitioner use Botox where your 11s (between your eyebrows) are, even if technically you don’t need it there? I went for a consultation and was told heavy brows can be a consequence of not having that ‘balancing’ Botox (and it put me off because I don’t have lines there!).

Im only mentioning because if you’ve not had that, it might correct how it looks?

Hotgirlwinter · 20/04/2024 21:38

Aww OP it’s really disappointing when the result isn’t what you were hoping for.

It will take about 3 months to wear off but the heavy brow should start to relax after about 4/6 weeks. You’ll get a bit of movement back and that should help.

Do you have your 2 week check up soon? I would discuss this then but it seems maybe a lighter touch would have better for you.

KeyboardWhinger · 21/04/2024 06:41

Mine is fully worn off by 4m. It wears off quicker after the first time too.

Newnamesameoldlurker · 21/04/2024 06:46

I would complain OP- an experienced injector shouldn't leave you with that heavy brow effect. As pp have said, they haven't balanced it properly. Don't worry though you'll look better in 3 months and your face will completely return to normal

Stringervest · 21/04/2024 06:53

People metabolise Botox differently OP. With any luck you'll be like me and it will wear off super fast! As pp said, the frozen look lasts only a very short time.

@rosemarylavendar wondering how you are getting on? Has it improved? I’ve got heavy in the middle of my brows and Spock like on the outside. I could go for a top up but honestly I am scared to make it worse and think I should just ride it out. 😮‍💨xx
