I don’t tend to wear trainers in everyday life but I’ve treated myself to a nice pair of new balance but hate the way the laces look?

any tips? I don’t want the laces to stick out

What do you mean by stick out?

Mairzydotes · 20/04/2024 11:14

I know what you mean
I usually thread my laces back through the top eyelet, rather than outward, tie them and then tuck them under . Not sure if my explanation helps.

Since I posted a searched Amazon and found elastic laces that don’t need to be tied

this is what I mean when I don’t like the look

Why do laces, when you buy new shoes or trainers, lace up in that weird way, with one side just a diagonal from top to bottom? Does anyone choose to lace like that? Is there any advantage?

Watching this, I've always had the irrational worry I'm doing it "wrong" and will out myself as a total disaster area. This stems from my teens when I think the look was to not have laces outside or visibly tied (grandad-esque). I constantly struggled to tie and tuck them vaguely comfortably and fear I never look on trend.

I think now it's fine to just tie your damn laces however you like, but I still always feel a bit "off".

I'm in my mid 40s so embracing the knot. Life's too short to hide your shoelaces.

I'm also in my 40s and embracing the outside knot but I spent most of my youth tying them inside the tongue and just shoving the laces in the shoe

Ah I think I have found my people 🤣 half 40 through my 40s and not a clue do I have about what runners are in or what way you tie them these days

I had no idea that how you tie your laces was a big thing!
Im mostly happy if I dont leave any dangly bits to stand on!!LOL

Lace the top one from outside to inside bottom .. but leave it long from the top.. then lace over and over.So it looks like this photo.
I always buy trainers with bungee laces so no tying.
