Fake Tan

Now it looks like I might ACTUALLY be able to start wearing some dresses and sandals to work in the near future I need your help please.

My pale legs are awful and I usually use Dove medium gradual tan to cover up blemishes and make them look less offensive.

I went for the moisturiser tan route as it's really hard to mess up and easy to apply and wait to dry.

Can anyone recommend a brand that's not orange, not overly expensive, easy to apply with quick dry times? Bonus points if it's hard to fuck it up - foolproof shall we say 😊 thanks in advance!

St Tropez purity range. It’s more of a gradual tanner as you don’t rinse it off but very difficult to fuck up and is a nice colour.

Garnier is a nicer brand and smell than Dove, so firstly try that with a tanning mit.

The best tan in my experience (and I’ve tried them all) is Bare by Vogue, mousse. I use medium and I love it.

Bondi sands every time! They do an express one hour which is great - I apply it with a mitt and it looks great, doesn't streak and lasts.

I used one years ago from no7. It was a mousse, and it went on the colour you were going to be, so easy to see if you'd put it on evenly. Smelled awful, but results were good.

I use Garnier tan moisturiser

DD properly fake tans using St Tropez. She slathers it on leaves it on for hours even goes out with it on then it needs to be showered off

She was given some Bondi Sands which she really likes and says it does last longer but is more expensive

Another vote for Bondi Sands. I'm using the gradual tanning milk at the moment and it's great to take the edge off a deathly pallor.

NCgoingdry · 20/04/2024 09:51

Oooooh lots of options thank you.

I'm not that fussed about smell tbh.

Is a mitt necessary? I've been going with bare hands 😂 maybe that's where I'm going wrong.

The mitt definitely helps!!! Even with tinted moisturiser. The black one from primark is good.

Coco and Eve is apparently a good one……tho not cheap.
I mean to order some today, as I need to prepare my legs for a glorious summer 😎

St Tropez express mousse - you don't need to sleep in it which is great, apply then leave for 2-3 hours, wash off and then it will continue to develop for 8 hours after, lovely colour

Don't shower for 4 plus hours before you apply the tan as (in my experience) it leave pores open and tan doesn't sit right

For foolproof, take your time, going over an area more than once doesn't matter but missing an area will leave you looking patchy

Alwaystired2023 · 20/04/2024 13:32

Also for your face - tan luxe serum is so lovely, great colour and easy to apply

NooNakedJacuzziness · 20/04/2024 13:52

I keep getting an ad for tanning capsules popping up - claims no smell or mess. I'm sort of tempted - anyone ever tried tanning pills? Slightly put off as you wont know what colour they turn you until it's too late!

Hadn't even considered face yet! Great shout thank you. Is it greasy?

As in - oral pills?

I would be reluctant to take something that would dye me from the inside out 😂

Mitt is a game changer. Bondi sands is the best I’ve found

Oh no it's not it's like skincare it's a serum - best facial tanner I've used. I'm talking about the clear one not the orange one I'll find a link.

Sorry just saw a PP and agree - I assumed we were all talking about using mitts, do use a mitt it will make all the difference
