I have done the unspeakable.
i was in a bad mood and watched some reels which showed a woman making amazing haircuts with the swipe of a razor.
she said you can do this at home.

i have curly hair.
I attempted said haircut .
it looks horrendous.
its 1970s but not in a cool stevie nicks way.
its too short but not in a cool neo techno dystopian anti hero kinda way .

too short to clip with looking like olive from on the buses.
im already struggling with ageing and weight gain through disability and medication and debating whether to stop dyeing my greys so am in a crisis of confidence, partially why I ruined my beautiful thinning frizzy hair 🤣🤦🏽‍♀️

I should add, it’s my fringe that’s wrecked. Or as people now seem to say ‘bangs’

I know you can buy clip in fringes... could this help until it grows??

Book an appointment at the best hairdresser you can as soon as possible. Nobody on here will be able to do anything as useful as them.

If it's too short then I think your only hope is to go along to a very very trendy hairdresser and have them change it to too short in a cool neo techno dystopian anti hero style and style it out. (or start wearing alice bands).

I think you need to go to a hairdressers to try and have it fixed. However, I will say that when I got a very much unrequited borderline mullet at a salon, there wasn't a lot they could do fix it except cut it into a pixie. I chose to just get a bit off the ends so it was closer to one length.

I've also had the other extreme where I got hair very very short at the back and long at the front in a "Karen" style. That time I had it cut short.

Sharing these tales of woe to show that many of us have been there!

maybe I should just go to the hairdresser, I’m a bit embarrassed really!
funny whoever mentioned the mullet, I have been very tempted several times but each time talked myself out of it, after this disaster I think I have made the right decision and need to accept that my hair only really works in the style I’ve worn for decades!

Linda McCartney hair is totally fine. OK, not what you wanted, but not majorly embarrassing! I think just wait it out or ask a hairdresser. It will start to look better as it grows out

Find a curly hairdresser - if you're near Shrewsbury I can highly recommend Curlsatcarma - purely cut curly hair.

Get a wig till it grows back, and by the way it’s still a fringe, bangs is American and we should encourage it’s use here

I hate ‘bangs’, was a bit tongue in cheek! My teen tells me that her and her friends call it bangs 🤦🏽‍♀️🙄

I can recommend one in London if that helps.

In the mean time would wearing a wide hair band help, you know the soft stretchy ones? It would trap most of the offending fringe under it and out of sight.

Or a head scarf?

I went to the hairdresser this week and she’s done some skilful blending, and had a little chuckle.
