I've attached a link from three different websites. I've bought the black cherry colour but I've also linked the ballet pink colour.

I actually own a (20 year old) paid of strappy heeled shoes in the same colour but I struggle to wear heels these days, I usually go for a block heel. It's for a wedding but the bride is in her early 50's and I suspect there may be more of a relaxed/bohemian vibe. Also my son's rock band is playing at the reception so I may be called upon to help lug stuff at times (though I could always take a change of shoes for that.

Lovely dress OP

How about a chunky heeled sandal? Or John Lewis have kitten-heeled court shoes or flat but dainty Mary Janes

I'm not very tall so would prefer a chunky heel I think rather than totally flat.

I was wearing suede ankle boots when I tried it on in the shop and I liked Boots with it but I am thinking something like the type of sandal you posted above might go.

I am wondering about whether a jacket would make it too formal but I might need something in case the weather is cooler.

No, OP, No! Don't be a roadie while wearing a 500-pound silk dress! Just don't.

Comefromaway · 15/04/2024 13:54

It wasn't quite £500!!! But I know what you mean. For me this was a major, major splurge. I saw it weeks ago and loved it but tried on about 40 other cheaper dresses first as I never usually spend that much.

I know they are v unfashionable, but I always take a cashmere wrap or cashmere cropped cardi. They are very warm for the weight, can be crammed down small without creasing, and run through a handwash setting if they end up on the floor under the table.

Sara93 · 15/04/2024 15:52

Maybe a low block heel like this one? Metallic colours could work.

Love the dress!

Comefromaway · 15/04/2024 16:35

That shoe is really pretty.

It does need to be a physical shop where I can try them on though.

That dress is awesome op! Love it, and enjoy wearing it. Like those sandals with it too.

Comefromaway · 15/04/2024 18:52

These are what I have (though the black block heels are a size too small but I’m liking the metallic idea

If you like the metallic idea (and I notice that the dress is styled with gold shoes on the Paige website), these are really comfortable: Monsoon gold shoes. I can't wear heels any more but I was on my feet in these for 5 hours and was still comfortable when I took them off. I was looking at Esska shoes but couldn't justify the expense and these were about a third of the price after a signing-up discount.

That's a show-stopping dress, you are going to look wonderful. I know what you mean about heels, I used to love them but wouldn't risk them these days so am following the shoe advice with great interest.

Gold would be lovely, or the plum coloured heels you have already would go well with it. Ideally not black.

How long is the dress on you?

I have these in black - very comfortable.

If i wear them for too long my calves go into spasm. I like a small heel because I’m only 5ft 3 hence why I often go for a block.

Rubbish photos as there isn’t enough distance but you can get an idea of length.

Do not lug music equipment in open-toed shoes. If you drop something, you've broken your toe.

Doctor Marten 1460 in rub-off black over pink will protect your toes and match the dress and tick the "bohemian" box.

If that's too riot grrl for your tastes, consider gold or silver khussa pumps with a gold or silver beaded bag.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 16/04/2024 05:02

The gold Monsoon sandals someone posted above would work really well.

If your son asks you to.lug music equipment, the answer is "no"

Defiantlynot41 · 16/04/2024 07:44

In terms of a physical shop to try shoes, how about Jones Bootmakers? www.jonesbootmaker.com/collections/new-in?colour=Metallic~Pink~Red&gender=female&heel=low~medium&hitsPerPage=48

If you think a formal jacket would not work for you, how about picking up one of the lighter colours in the dress for something one of these

Some great ideas to try, thank-you everyone. I now have a list of shops/places to look.

I had a beautiful black Lipsy lace dress for a wedding with a nude lining that showed through the lace. Instead of going for black shoes I had a peach gold block heel, I got them from Shein of all places and they were so comfortable, I even got a matching bag from them as well. They have so much choice, worth having a look.
