My favourite lipstick has been discountinued - Nars Gipsy - cool brick red - any dupes?

My favourite lipstick has been discontinued, and I am bereft. I need a cool brick/browny red, with a sheer texture, not matte, but not a lip gloss either. Any idea where I can find a dupe, or where I can take it to get it colour matched? Happy to pay max £25.

If I need to go to a make up counter, which counter would actually work with me to find one that suits me? I feel like most of the counters are only interested if you're buying to spend more than £25.

Thanks in advance

Have a search on temptalia in the dupes section - I can't do links, but it's on there as g*psy

Try laura mercier high vibe

Go to Chanel. They will find something similar for you.

Lisa Eldridge Palazzo is also an option.

Thanks everyone. I will go and wander around the Beauty Hall at John Lewis and hope someone takes pity on me 😊

Oh no! No!

You don't do that or you will end up with one beige Charlotte Tilbury that makes you look like you are auditioning as an Instagram influencer, and a brown one, because Eighties revival.

You go there and you are the boss. Take what's left of your Gypsy to show them and repeat after me "I won't buy if they are too pushy".

And report later.

That’s so funny, I ended up getting pressurised into buying a Charlotte Tilbury lipstick, colour ‘Glowing’. It is the most useless lipstick I’ve ever owned. It
lasts oh, all of 10 seconds!

I find MAC are very good at matching an old favourite, they have a huge selection of colours/ textures

RiotAndAlarum · 17/04/2024 13:22

I am also keen on the browner sorts of lipstick, and Uoma Tracy is quite a nice warm (reddish) brown. Not as dark as a Mac Antique Velvet (which ended up being far too dark for day wear). (For the record, I'm white and quite pale, but with olive undertones.)

Almahart · 17/04/2024 13:24

Oh no! I wore that on my wedding day. Please do let us know if you find a good substitute

brogueish · 17/04/2024 15:36

Oh I didn’t know this had been DCed 🙁
there’s a Chantecaille lip chic that might do the job - go to a counter. Or the blackberry Surratt lipslique might work?

TempersFuggit · 02/09/2024 15:26

Well it's only taken me five months*, but I've bought my lipstick. Armed with a friend and my JL gift vouchers I went to the Nars counter and found just what I was looking for. It appears that all of their lipsticks are now matt, which I hate, so I started to try their more sheer colours and discovered - Wild Ride. It's balmy, but it does stay on, and is exactly the cool brick red I wanted.

*As an interim measure I have been using no7 lipstick called Raspberry which was also a pretty good match, but not so pigmented.
