What gives you the ick for no particular reason ?

When I was younger I would have loved to have had longer nails but sadly they used to break easily so they've been short my whole life. Odd now then that when I see those long talon nails ( incompatible with real life imo) that they totally give me the ick....like a small repulsion on sight. 😖

What's your irrational 'ick'?

OP posts:

Too short skirts on too big (fat) legs. Sorry, not sorry. 😏

RabbitsRock · 14/04/2024 11:42

It’s not irrational. There’s a woman who regularly comes to my till at work who I’m sure would be naturally attractive but she’s had so much done she looks awful! The darkest fake tan I’ve ever seen, dazzling veneers, extreme botox on lips & cheeks, those terrible painted on eyebrows, huge false eyelashes, very long false nails. I don’t like “pouty” lips generally.

Miloandfreddy · 14/04/2024 11:48

People who wear dry robes as coats... I hate it so much. Always want to ask them are they heading to the beach or have they just been?

CJ0374 · 14/04/2024 11:52

Men with long little nails! These feet! Facial moles- especially with hair coming out!

theduchessofspork · 14/04/2024 11:57

Tight leggings to the point that they are basically spray paint. Especially in light / think material.

Ok in the gym (if you must) but I do not want to see your crevices in the coffee queue. Fake flesh leggings anytime

Uncovered male torsos except on the beach/in the pool.

Sandals in the office or any situation where there isn’t good airflow. Sandals full stop if your feet and nails aren’t in good nick (harder for men cos can’t resort to paint).

Bad tans / extensions / dye / duck lips

Body hugging clothes if you really really don’t have the body for it - male or female. I don’t much like them on anyone anyway, but if what you are revealing is a load of lumps and bumps then that just isn’t helping you or anyone looking at you. I don’t mean if you aren’t super skinny - you can be a bit chubby and still toned.

Little boys with very short hair or long hair (I know this one is irrational)

babyhiding · 14/04/2024 12:15

Fag stained fingers and nails with curled up grey coloured finger nails. Yuck

tobee · 14/04/2024 13:39

Unpainted/unpedicured toenails and open toe sandals.

Blokes walking around topless or shirt open in hot weather unless on or very near beach or pool . Especially if walking around an urban environment

Men in vests on public transport in hot weather drippy armpit hair. But that's for very good reason.

Fake lips

GoodnightAdeline · 14/04/2024 13:50

Really long natural nails. Don’t like them fake either but those long white semi translucent ends some women have 🤮 rank

HolidayAtNight · 14/04/2024 13:52

Sliders, especially with socks.

everythinglooksbetterpaintedblack · 14/04/2024 13:53

Tattoos on face, neck and hands

Flesh coloured clothing

Dirty shoes

Citrusandginger · 14/04/2024 13:57

Neutral leggings. Yuk. Funny how you never see them on anyone with a good figure too.

My slightly weird one is blocky 2 tone stripey nails They always seem to make people's fingers look short and stubby. Some of this is probably because as a HCP I'd love to have long glamorous nails and so I get annoyed with people who choose ugly ones.

Berlinlover · 14/04/2024 14:01

Those leggings that show off the labia. Every female under 35 seems to wear them in my area. Horrendous.

Strawberrycheesecake7 · 14/04/2024 14:06

I hate the feel of velvet. Even looking at it goes through me because I can imagine what it feels like. I have no idea why but I’ve felt this way about it since I was a child.

HolidayAtNight · 14/04/2024 14:10

Another one - that particular shade of matte, puce lipstick that was very popular a couple of years ago.

Sunflowersinthehaze · 14/04/2024 14:13

Long toe nails on men or women.

Parents they dress their young children in obvious (probably fake) designer clothes with slogans all over them. Also crop tops/bikinis etc on children.

People can wear what they like etc but I do not think men in tracksuits look particularly stylish or competent. It's a bit infantilising. I accept they have been in for years and are very practical and comfortable but just look like big cosy babygros to me

Competent is such an accurate (and kind) word. But yes it is a bit like their mum has dressed them in that outfit as there are no fiddly buttons or ties (is that why prisoners wear them as there's nothing you can do yourself or others harm with?).

I think that wearing such a tracksuit must also make you forgetful as a lot of them seem to have to keep checking their genitals are there by giving them a reassuring fondle.

Foxblue · 14/04/2024 14:16

This is a weird one - but when you are out in the evening and see a couple has got a woman whose nicely turned out, clean clothes, nice outfit put together, and he looks like a slob. I don't mean not dressed a certain way - not everyone likes dressing up - but when it's a ratty old clothes that are too small and stained and torn.
It's not right of me to think like this - doesn't make any difference to my life, just be comfy - but still gives me the ick!

I just glanced over this and thought it said BIRKINS on children Shock

idk....I dont mind short skirts/dresses with big legs if they come with thick tights or leggings, that can look quite nice.
But bare legs? nope..... (TBH Im sure only supermodels and teenagers can get away with bare legs and short skirts!!).

Not so much an ick but, people who are confused about the weather. You see them out in shorts, flip flops, and a giant parka in december. I just dont understand what they were dressing for!

Also parents that dress their babies in designer baby grows with it written all over them and babies/toddlers/children that are made to wear big gold bracelets or chains.

FoxtrotOscarFoxtrotOscar · 14/04/2024 14:29

Men and women in sleeveless tops.
Don't like armpits on display, but especially on Masterchef.

ThewaytoAmarula · 14/04/2024 14:31

Men wearing really tight cotton (non stretchy) shirts deliberately tightly to show off muscly arms. Looks so uncomfortable.

Men with overly-styled facial hair, like thin twiddle long 'taches styled with wax. Shudder.
