I'm 44 and over the last few years (since baby, since Covid?) the lower half of my face just seems to have collapsed, lost its tension and become a kind of suet that hangs around my jowls and neck.
I'm reluctant to go the whole hog and look into surgical facelifts just yet (partly cause of price) so I've been investigating what seem to be the non-surgical options.
So far, from my local beauty places, I've found a variety of different treatments and tbh I'm not clear about exactly what they do, or how effective they are, or which ones if any are value for money.
If anyone's tried these, I'd be so grateful for some advice... they're all pretty expensive in terms of my budget but I'd invest in one that really made a difference, and I'd rather it made a difference for (say) a year, not just 3 months, at these prices.
- Dermal filler 2ml - seems to lift the face, lasts 6-12 months, £400?
- Smart sculpt neck treatment - £45 - this is listed as 'body contouring', and I have a sense it might not do much
- High intensity ultrasound jawline - £199 neck, £250 jaw
- Radiofrequency skin tightening £169, on a local deal from normal £375
I get the hunch that the less expensive ones might just have a mild and temporary tightening effect and that you'd need one of the pricier treatments to really make a longer-term difference, but I'm also a bit scared of dermal fillers making me look strange, or starting off a cycle with them that I have to keep up every 6 months to stop my face collapsing...
I'm also looking into collagen, btw... not sure if the supplements you drink are just gimmicks, or whether any kind of topical collagen you apply in a cream can work in terms of tightening my neck and jaw...?
Thanks so much in advance!
