Is this jumpsuit too ‘sexy’ for a wedding

Confusgurl · 10/04/2024 23:07

Please help!
I’m 32 weeks pregnant and struggling on what to wear to a wedding this weekend!
Ive bought the attached jumpsuit and I love it on me, feel confident and comfortable.

my issue is that it hugs my bump very well and it’s pink, do you think it will look like I’m trying to show off my bump too much?
I don’t like being the centre of attention and certainly don’t want to up stage the bride.

The wedding is one of my boyfriend’s friends and my boyfriend is best man. So whilst I know people there, it’s not like they are my direct friends as such.
I worry people will talk about me as if I’m trying to show off.
Or I could be completely overthinking it!
How much do you think I should ‘show’ my bump?
is it too sexy?

Do you honestly think wearing black dress (with a shawl) to a wedding is more appropriate than a nice bright fun outfit?

And OP is going to be pregnant for a few more weeks only. It is not like she is going to be wearing the jumpsuit on a cost per wear basis.

I have nothing against a lady wearing a fun bright outfit when 9 months pregnant (as long as it’s flattering and doesn’t make her look silly), but that pink number on the picture costs 7 pounds and looks cheap on the picture (I don’t want to imagine once you get it on the mail and it’s either too big or two small). Sorry but my advice to OP is: do not show up at a wedding in a 7 pounds pink pijama (unless you don’t give a rats ass about being the biggest source of jokes).

BusyCaz · 11/04/2024 11:25

I think it's gorgeous, wear it x

MumblesParty · 11/04/2024 11:34

OP posted because she had some doubts and wanted opinions.

This isn’t a discussion about whether something is right or wrong, it’s a mixture of people expressing opinions. That’s what fashion is - opinions. There’s no such thing as “good” or “bad” fashion (aside from obvious stuff like tops with offensive slogans etc). It’s all a matter of opinion.

I totally understand the “you go girl, where what you want” approach, and think it’s an admirable way for women to approach life.

But weddings do strange things to people. I’ve never had a wedding myself, because it’s not my thing, but I’ve been to the weddings of plenty of others. And brides often get very stressed about it, even the ones who aren’t classic “bridezillas”. So I always think it’s best to tread very carefully when it comes to someone’s big day.

Several people on here have said they think it’s not appropriate, which means that the bride might potentially feel the same. That fact alone would make me rethink the outfit, whether I felt those opinions were reasonable or not.

DreadPirateRobots · 11/04/2024 11:42

I'm slightly mystified by how many people can't pee in a jumpsuit. I pretty much always wear jumpsuits to weddings (I don't feel comfortable in dresses) and while it's mildly annoying to have to "undress" your top half when you use the loo, I've never found it to be actively difficult. It comes off the same way it went on.

SuiGeneris · 11/04/2024 11:48

@Confusgurl if you have tried it on and it looks good on you, wear it. Show off your bump and don't worry.
The bride is in a different category and at most people will think she might look as lovely as you in 9 months.

I went to a wedding at 39 weeks, the day before my planned Caesarian. Like you, I was quite slim with a neat bump so I bought a normal stretchy jersey dress from Coast in size 8 and just let it run over the bump. I only got compliments and it was the only non-frumpy option I could find. The maternity dresses mostly assume people get big all over by that stage and looked like tents. So go ahead, wear what you feel comfortable in and make sure you have some beautiful pictures to show baby when s/he grows up.

NoelJo · 11/04/2024 11:52

I don’t personally like it but I think it’s perfectly fine for a wedding. Someone showed up to my wedding a few months pregnant in a my little pony bright pink dress. That was inappropriate.

Lavenderandbrown · 11/04/2024 11:57

No one upstages the bride. You can wear anything as long as you wear it with confidence. Now about the jumpsuit

It’s darling. pink is so pretty and popular now and you will look beautiful in it. Be sure you get some pics in it for your baby memories. I think it’s great when guests glam up. We have an upcoming family wedding and all us old aunts have been shopping for trying on and returning dresses for months. It’s part of the celebration. Wear it op and be confident while you are. Wishing you and baby the best.

Lavenderandbrown · 11/04/2024 11:59

Oh and unless you’re freezing ….no coat shawl cardis other such add ons. The sleeves and style do not lend themselves to this.

AmethystSparkles · 11/04/2024 12:02

I think it’s very nice OP. I wore a jumpsuit for most of my pregnancy because they’re so flattering.

I see you’ve been well and truly put in your place by other posters telling you that you definitely won’t looks sexy, let alone too sexy!! 🙄 Charming eh?🙂

NashvilleQueen · 11/04/2024 12:06

unless you don’t give a rats ass about being the biggest source of jokes

Nice company you keep.

pregahes · 11/04/2024 12:08

Not sexy at all OP, I'd say more edging towards grumpy if anything!

But, depending how it looks on it could look great I think it's the model making it look frumpy to be honest. It doesn't fit her well

Sorry I’m from NY 🤣

longtompot · 11/04/2024 12:13

Is it a colour and style of clothing you would usually wear? If so, go for it. I'd prefer it in the blue as it stands out a bit less. But, if you feel comfortable in it then I'd wear it. You could have a wrap of some sort to cover up a bit just in case you felt it was a bit too much when you get there.
I went to a wedding 3 days before my ds was born 5 days early and I was fit to burst. I just wore a dress I made which made me feel like I was wearing a tent!

shootingstar1 · 11/04/2024 12:23

Personally I love it and feel it's a much better option than some frumpy "floaty dress" . I like the colour and if you feel comfortable then go for it . I understand your concern about drawing attention to your bump but at your stage of pregnancy there is no hiding it and better to do it in something you like and are comfortable in than trying to hide it in a tent dress .

Another stupid response

Ah i see, only your responses matter 😂

PollyPeachum · 11/04/2024 12:26

Lateish posting but does it make your bum look OK?

FusionChefGeoff · 10/04/2024 23:10

I have to say that if you don't want to upstage anyone or be centre of attention, I wouldn't wear a body hugging pink jumpsuit when 32 weeks pregnant. That really will draw the eye I'm afraid! Same outfit, darker colour would be less obtrusive, or same colour, less body hugging.

🤣🤣🤣

PlasticOno · 11/04/2024 12:44

splashofcolour · 11/04/2024 12:37

🤣🤣🤣

Yeah, wear a large burlap sack and accessorise with an unobtrusive fascinator, you attention-seeking pregnant hussy with your ‘Bump of Up-staging the Bride on her Special Day’ strategy.

Mich8 · 11/04/2024 12:52

I can’t believe all the comments about upstaging the bride, taking attention from her, not liking her to dare to wear something like this etc.

Fair enough if someone turned up in a white floor length gown (I really think I wouldn’t have cared about a white dress with a subtle floral print) but other than that it strikes me as so self-absorbed to care this much about what your guests wear. I’d just want them to feel fabulous and comfortable throughout a long day, whatever that looks like to them.

Caiti19 · 11/04/2024 12:55

You love it, you said you feel comfortable and confident in it, and it looks fine. I say wear it.

Wendysfriend · 11/04/2024 12:58

I think it's gorgeous. It's a beautiful colour. You've tried it on and it fits and you feel comfortable in it. You can manage the loo and they are the main things to be concerned about.

Show off your bump, that's your little baby and anything you wear is going to show your bump. Don't wear a blooming floaty, flowery, maxi, midi, mini, dress, I don't know why they're always recommended on here.

Wear it and have a great day

Confusgurl · 11/04/2024 12:59

NashvilleQueen · 11/04/2024 09:10

I wasn't particularly fussed one way or another but reading some of the absolutely bat shit responses on here I say 100% wear it and coordinate with a massive Carmen Miranda fruit headdress and a badge that says 'look at my bump'.

I am glad to say I've never been to a wedding where people are this petty minded about what another woman wears.

(I do think the practicalities of going to the loo need to be considered tho...)

😂😂 this made me laugh out loud!

I wouldn't call it sexy and I think it's fine for a wedding.

Exactly this. Will be lovely with a corsage and fascinator

MaryFuckingFerguson · 11/04/2024 13:01

It’s it no way sexy, but if you like it, go for it. It definitely would not upstage anyone but it would be nicer in a less hideous colour imo.
