I used to be EE double wear. Then moved to more BB or cc creams.eborian was the latest but now feeling my skin doesn't look right with this either. I've seen Laura Geller baked malarkey advertised a lot but not sure.

Recommend me something that will make me look glowy/dewey and not cake or look ancient. I'm 50 but don't want to feel or look it lol.

Following this!

Which mascara did you buy and was it worth it?

Screamingabdabz · 10/04/2024 19:02

I’ve tried every foundation on the planet - I wear it daily and I’m prepared to pay big money but I come back to boring old Boots no.7 every time.

user50and · 10/04/2024 19:02

Dior Forever or Forever Dior? Can't remember which! I'm 52 and have just started wearing it..

ActualCannibalShiaLeBeouf · 10/04/2024 19:04

54 and I like Armani luminous silk

MrsWidgerysLodger · 10/04/2024 19:25

I'm in my 40s but absolutely love Armani luminous silk.

awopbopaloobopawopbamboom · 10/04/2024 19:28

The Ordinary serum foundation, game changing.

springyellowrose · 10/04/2024 19:29

Any tips on how to get the right shade when buying online?

Angeldelight50 · 10/04/2024 19:34

Don’t be afraid to go into a department store and stock up on tester pots. I never commit to buying a full bottle of foundation before trying!

Glowy base:
• Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter

Lightweight foundations:
• Fenty Eaze Drop
• Nars Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturiser
• Hourglass Veil

Hear lots of rave reviews about Armani luminous silk but made me look like an oil slick 😳

HuntingoftheSnark · 10/04/2024 19:38

I'm over 50 and have tried loads but always revert to No7 Hydraluminous.

52yo and I use Lisa Eldridge Seamless Skin foundation.

She has also brought out a skin tint recently. She has a huge range of shades.

You can get samples online, or her makeup is available at Liberty, Selfridges and now at SpaceNK.

I have just discovered Jones Road foundation. It’s lovely

Online. Money back guarantee. I thought it was a scam, but honestly, best foundation I have ever used - and even got my 75 yr old mum onto it too!

This.
I'm finishing up Estée Lauder Futurist Hydra Rescue but won't repurchase, the N7 is a better colour fit and has a beautiful almost satin finish.
I did try a sample once of Luminous Silk but wasn't impressed enough to justify the price - L'Oreal Infallible something or other (not the pro glow) is a dupe of it apparently and in blind testing was preferred to it.

Kwackerly · 10/04/2024 19:47

Oh this is useful. I must know 1) the mascara and 2) recommended base if you have oily skin. I use various matt primers and eborian cc, love eborian coverage but i look like i have pledged my face after an hour. I'd love a matt look!

I got the Benefit Bad Girl Bang.... Mad name. Did I get it right? 🙈😆

Yes it was what I was looking for. Gives good length and not smudgy.

I was watching British Beauty Blog Jane trying the Lisa Eldridge tint this morning, and it looks very nice.

Clinique Even Better Glow is nice too.

But nothing beats Hydraluminous for me.

I used to but they've closed down our Debenhams and our next nearest one. We only have boots and the most high end is their own!

I've discovered Kiko brand, their Second Skin foundation is better than anything I've ever used and their concealer/primer is excellent.

I love the Jones Road Miracle balm, but not the the foundation. It is full of gritty bits, that don't mix or spread. very little coverage, just shiny and greasy. It also works like plaque-disclosing tablets, but for the face; making a bee-line for all the fine lines and wrinkles where it settles and shines accusingly. My undereyes looked like the Nile delta.

I like Revlon Superstay. No problems with application, finish or longevity.

HelenHywater · 10/04/2024 19:57

I wear Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser. I get lots of compliments about my skin!

Also wear a bit of blusher on my cheek which gives a slightly pinky glowy look, and a natural looking lipstick which stops me looking ill.

Nicetobenice67 · 10/04/2024 19:58

I’m looking too but do any of these give you that dewy glow?

wutheringkites · 10/04/2024 19:59

I'm a big fan of the Nars tinted moisturiser - it's more like a light foundation but gives a lovely glow.

Shamrockk · 10/04/2024 19:59

You are probably looking more for a skin tint, it is like a BB cream finish but more of a foundation texture!

My favourites are

  • Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Flawless Filter
  • Huda Beauty Glowish
  • Urban Decay Hydro-Maniac

I like to apply with a kabuki brush then a damp beauty sponge.

Moisturiser mixed with a liquid illuminator is also a great wee base! Get a more bronze toned one for summer if you have any holidays booked and want a nice summery glow. Can also do a pump of foundation mixed in for more coverage.

You could also be lazy like me and mix moisturiser and foundation together, it honestly gives the same look😂 I use the Nivea face cream in the tube for this not the tin. However the tin is apparently a dupe for La Mer!

I've looked at this but I honestly don't know how people do the colour match correctly and it doesn't look like you can order samples to try?
