Wedding outfit help please!

Hi everyone, I've been so impressed with the ideas given out for different outfit issues, I really hope someone can help.

I'm going to two weddings this summer. Both abroad, temps in the early 20s I guess. I really dislike long floral dresses and throwaway fashion which seems to be wedding guests de rigeur. I'd like something a bit 'cooler' - simpler / clean lines I guess. Not particularly convinced by jumpsuits (although could be converted), don't love dresses below knee length. I'm 5'6, size 8-10.

A few ideas of things I like below, but not quite certain about any of them. Vintage/vinted preferred over new but realise that's tricky!

Kaia Set

Imagine if you found this to hire:

What is your budget OP?

MiddleAgedDread · 09/04/2024 15:30

I don't think that blue two piece is appropriate for a wedding. The Karen Millen dress is nice though. I agree the third one is probably a bit casual for a wedding.

Thanks everyone! Budget is I guess £200ish for something great?

Is this too ordinary? Massimo Dutti, £119.

I love the shape! Colour a bit gloomy for a wedding I suppose…

How about the Acne Studio yellow leather?

MavisTheMonkey · 09/04/2024 20:12

Your brief is surprisingly hard! 😂
It seems simple and knee length is a very hard combination to find.
What about this? It's a rental so ticks your non-fast fashion box.

Another option although I think there may be a superstition/ tradition against wearing red to a wedding

This is very nice

I love all three of your choices! Whether the two-piece would be wedding suitable probably depends how much gap there is between the two on someone your height.

Skykidsspy · 09/04/2024 21:08

I like the Karen Millen set but how much skin is on show might be a decision maker. Depends on the crowd too!

I disagree with everyone I love the 2 piece!! And I would 100% wear that to a wedding! I also love the 3rd dress! But the other I completely dislike 🤣

Wexone · 11/04/2024 15:07

I would look at renting. you can get fabulous suits or unusual dresses
self portrait do a nice dress that looks like a two piece jacket and skirt
hurr is one you find them on instragram
look up rotate aswell

Magnoliame · 11/04/2024 16:30

Have you looked at Sezane? This might do the trick… https://www.sezane.com/en/product/hortense-dress/pink#size-8

mdinbc · 11/04/2024 21:00

I actually really like the blue two piece set. For the second wedding, you could wear the top with some flowy pleated trousers, I think you could get away with cream coloured, and it would look nice.

I also really like the yellow trapeze dress from john lewis, and the green shorts & blazer set.

If you don't mind puffy sleeves, this is striking:https://www.sezane.com/us/product/armida-dress/black#size-2

Ceramic272 · 11/04/2024 22:14

I’m the same size as you and have similar pretences re dresses. Have you looked at reformation? it’s the one place I’ll occasionally break my no florals/no maxi rule for.. as the style does feel “cool” and definitely works for weddings. I’ve reused a couple dresses from there for multiple ones, always get lots of compliments on them. (It is spenny though but no regrets!)

Emmz1510 · 12/04/2024 19:11

I like all of these but I do think the Kaia set is unsuitable for a wedding, although it is beautiful. I love both the dresses
