The pockets are fake!!!!!!

Ugh, just having a rant. Ordered a bomber jacket from M&S and got it today. Tried it on, it's lovely and comfy and I'm pleased. Go to put my hand in the pocket and it's fake!!!! It even has the inner pocket sewed into it? Why bother? I've attached photos to show.

When I looked at it online I specifically noted that it had pockets because...why shouldn't woman have pockets? I keep my phone and keys in my winter coat so that I don't always have to rummage around my bag for them.

I'm SO disappointed, have half a mind to return it but I already don't have much choice as I'm plus size.

I've also included photos from the website which specifically have a zoomed in photo on the 'pocket'. Oh and noticed in the description that it's described as having a zip up front, when it's clearly button up. But that I'm not stressed about as I saw it in the photos

Before the days of fast fashion, pockets were always stitched. I guess the more traditional shops still do it.

I wore a coat with the vent stitched closed for a good year before I realised I could just unpick the 3 stitches holding it closed.
I waddled like a penguin when it was fastened.
No bugger told me🤣

I sold a coat of my mum's earlier in the year. It must have been 20 years old and the pockets were still stitched. I put it as a feature. As a PP said, it used to be really common and helped the coat keep its shape.

Oh no 😂 my dad has a suit jacket that he moaned about he wore it to a wedding last year first time I'd seen it,we unpicked the pocket.

Previous M&S coats I’ve bought didn’t have this but you learn something every day. Perhaps it was the style.

Most coats and jackets have the pockets stitched. They used to be just tacked but these days they seem to be properly machine sown shut so there's a bit of work in opening them. I think a lot of people don't realise this. The other thing I see a lot is that people don't know to remove the tacks holding the slit shut at the back of jacket or a long coat. I saw someone this morning struggling to walk in a long coat because the slit was closed. I don't know why manufacturers don't just put a little label to tell people.

Agree with everyone else. It's not a fake pocket, just carefully unpick the stitches.
