I'm going on holiday soon and had no clothes for sunshine holidays
I've bought this dress but not sure if it's too tight
I wouldn't wear it in the uk as I would feel too self conscious
Does it look okay ?
I'm nearly 40 and not sure if it's too young as it's from Zara

Loads of people are dressed like that on my holibobs. Where are you going?

Hillrunning · 08/04/2024 18:09

Yes too tight.

Hoolihan · 08/04/2024 18:11

Amazing figure but dress is too tight and really dated.

The next size up had really baggy armpits and too much excess material
I did try both on

Always wear the right size or alter it.
It's not that unusual you will find similar versions online / high street

90yomakeuproom · 08/04/2024 18:13

It's too tight because of the pulls across. Maybe you could show us a picture with it the correct length if it doesn't pull then?

Ting20161987 · 08/04/2024 18:14

Firstly, It is not too tight, the dress is supposed to be figure hugging. If you are uncomfortable in it, return it.
Secondly, your figure is stunning and you look gorgeous in it.
Thirdly, I am 39, live in Zara clothing and wear, short, fitting outfits. Age is a number, wear what you want. You will look back at that picture in 10/20 years and think why the hell did I not wear it!

At 39 I am not reverting to linen, floaty shapeless dresses just yet. We don't hit our 40's and instantly loose all sex appeal. Goodness me, some of these comments.

If you have the figure, and feel great in it, wear it!!!

Saying that, I would be worried about sweat patches as a dress for holiday

If I pull it down to correct length the bits that look ruched aren't there
I've just pulled it up but it then creates the creases

In which case when you sit in it you will have loads of creases so it won’t look good.
It is also a tad tight.

Corinthiana · 08/04/2024 18:15

I'm going to agree with pp, the dress is too tight and not flattering. It's not too young for you, your figure is great, but it really looks like your forcing yourself into a smaller size..

Flyhigher · 08/04/2024 18:21

It looks gorgeous xx

Flyhigher · 08/04/2024 18:22

It's sexy and gorgeous wear it! Don't listen to anyone saying it's too tight.

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 08/04/2024 18:24

You've got a lovely figure but the dress is not very exciting. Plain colour, and likely to be far too hot for holiday. There are loads of lovely dresses you could wear that would really make a statement, flattering your figure and be nice and cool for an evening out in a hot place.

You could wear anything with your figure so don't settle for something you're not comfortable with.

And forget about 'losing a bit of weight' before you go on holiday. Everyone says that... and by day three you'll be bloated from ice cream and pasta... seriously, get a floaty dress!

I think it looks absolutely fine, not too tight, it’s just a fitted dress!
if i saw you on holiday I’d not notice you (as in, I wouldn’t be sitting and thinking your dress was too tight/long/bright etc!).
I don’t really wear fitted stuff on hot holidays myself because I don’t like material sticking to me when I’m hot but you obviously don’t have that issue so crack the hell on!

ohbabyilovetheway · 08/04/2024 18:28

Thanks everyone
I'm gonna take it and see how I feel when I'm over there
It was only £7 on sale so even if I just wear it once and never again not a big loss

I think it looks lovely on you. You have a great figure. Of course it is a fitted shape so it will be tight but it doesn’t look bad tight if you see what I mean.

Wear it, have fine, enjoy your holiday!

schoolsoutforever · 08/04/2024 18:30

*fun

PerfectTravelTote · 08/04/2024 18:33

Its not too tight in terms of sizing but tbh I think it's too tight in terms of what's in fashion (if that's something that you care about).

Divebar2021 · 08/04/2024 18:33

I despair really… only wear it once? What a shit message.

ohbabyilovetheway · 08/04/2024 18:37

@Divebar2021 my point was if I do only wear it once it's not a big loss
All of my unwanted clothes I either give to charity or vinted
Nothing goes to waste

DrJoanAllenby · 08/04/2024 18:44

Yes it is rising up and ruched.

You might try wearing a slip underneath it to see if it hangs better, if not go up a size.

Mumaway · 08/04/2024 18:47

It looks ok, but I would be worried about sweaty patches...

MabelWotsits · 08/04/2024 19:05

Yes it's too tight. It looks uncomfortably so, you can see your belly button in it which isn't a good look

2024istheyearforme · 08/04/2024 20:04

I think it looks amazing, I'm pretty sure those dressed are supposed to be tight, it's a body con dress surely

Lalupalina · 08/04/2024 20:11

It's WAY too tight and in a hot climate it will stick to you and be uncomfortable.

Lalupalina · 08/04/2024 20:12

A looser look would be much more classy and elegant!

Lalupalina · 08/04/2024 20:13

Wow, what a waste of our resources..!
