Where are you shopping and what are you shopping for / planning to wear in spring/summer? Just looking for inspiration Smile.

I am a size 18 on top, size 20/22 on the bottom. I love the S&B page but a lot of the MN favourite shops or beautiful things being suggested only go up to a 16 (Klements) or 18 (Sezane, Toast, Hush).

I have just ordered a Trench coat from River Island Plus, and a new backpack and some sunglasses in the Asos sale.

Will link the Trench coat below:

Jumping in here to ask where people get their chub rub shorts from?

I’ve bought some floaty dresses (mostly from yours) for our first holiday abroad as a family, but desperately need shorts underneath.

I don't wear chub shorts as more apple shape but Snag are apparently good for them. There tights are great. Stay up and no gussets and different sizes for heights etc especially if big belly like me.

Like a few pp, I like Next for jeans. And M&S for things like joggers and linen cropped trousers in the summer. I am tall though, so this is partly because Next and M&S do a good variety of leg lengths.

I am really stuck for tops at the moment, especially smarter t-shirts with a pattern. I like to wear them to work in the summer with black/navy trousers or cropped linen. I carry most of my weight around my stomach, so found some of the cuts that Evans did to be flattering for me (pintuck, swing and sharkbite, they always seem to be called). But Evans seem to have become very stagnant recently with very little new stock in and I think may have even been taken over by someone else?? So I really don't know what to do. Have found a couple on Vinted/ebay. Will check out Monsoon and Fat Face. I find websites for Yours and Simply Be very difficult to filter through, seems to be quantity over quality there.

I have a friend who's your size and she always looks very well put together. She wears trousers from Next and a lot of tops and dresses from Boden. I don't think she ever wears skirts.

I used to be large, and wore a lot of Seasalt and White Stuff. Mostly tunic tops and leggings. I look back on photos now and think they didn't actually do me any favours.

BigPretty · 09/04/2024 09:13

I'm definitely more of a trousers person. I definitely don't suit tunics and I don't feel I really suit dresses, although I do get compliments when I wear them in the summer.

Awww bless you …I bet the dresses are very flattering on you it’s just a matter of finding the right one …be more confident girl x

EmmaGrundyForPM · 09/04/2024 09:23

@BigPretty if you get compliments when you're wearing dresses, keep wearing them!

howtofixteeth · 09/04/2024 10:25

I'm a size 24, so the shops that stock my size are pretty limited. I tend to buy things in:

Fat Face (and, they usually have a decent selection on sale)
Tu
M&S
Next
Phase Eight
Monki - Their XXL is a 24
Monsoon

When I was a size 22, I liked shopping at Boden and Joanie Clothing

If anyone likes boho / quirky prints or rock n roll inspired clothing - and is in South West Wales, or has the patience to trawl a website with no filters - there's a lovely shop in Narbeth called RocknRoll Emporium that stocks both petite and larger sizes IME.

Antibetty · 09/04/2024 12:01

Hush sizes are large. their XL will easily fit 20/22
Sahara is great, esp if you can get something in the sale.
Joanie is generously sized.

Next own brand jeans at 25 quid are good. They are stretttccchy.

If you are able/can be bothered, please could you link or share a pic to these as I get so overwhelmed with choice at times on next!

Itsanothermanicmonday · 09/04/2024 17:59

What height are people posting on this thread please?

As I am tall and plus sized so its a nightmare if tall. Trousers become pedal pushers with dresses the waist is always far too high or in totally the wrong place so look ridiculous and a maxi skirt or dress is a midi and a midi a mini on us so the looks are very different.

Thanks

I like Fashion World, Simply Be, Marisota, Yours & Roman to name a few.

Hey @BeretRaspberry
Here's the jeans. Next bootcut.
Hope that's useful.

Blackcats7 · 09/04/2024 18:04

I like Brakeburn and Joules which both fit size 20 me. Someone recently told me this is classic older horsewoman wear if not in the tatty crap covered in hay and mud worn to the yard though so maybe it’s a bit fuddy duddy for you.

Itsanothermanicmonday · 09/04/2024 18:11

@OzzyTrier - I have got some nice tops from Fatface the last few years and best of all I can actually sometimes size down. But the dresses, trousers and skirts are all way too short on me.

Thanks for adding your height @BigPretty thats helpful I am 5’11’.

I follow Laura Adlington on Insta but I am unsure how tall she is or what dress size she is? Anyone know.

RobinEllacotStrike · 09/04/2024 18:14

Saint & Sofia go up to 22 and aren't too bad with the polyester

As a larger woman finding clothes that are nice, not floral or childrens print, and not polyester is really tricky

Also This In Unfolded - the Lana trousers are great. I find their non-stretch dresses aren't quite big enough in the bust but other bits are great. Quality is good, not all polyester, and I love their low waste busines model.

Not sure how tall she is but I think she's a 26 although sometimes wears a 24.

fabfatand40plus wears a size 20 and has brilliant outfit ideas IMO.

Daffyyellow · 09/04/2024 18:44

Next, Landend, Seasalt and some Tu from Sainsbury’s. But like @GnomeDePlume I now sew my own.

BrendaSmall · 09/04/2024 19:29

Size 22/24
i wear the same tops 12 months of the year just different bottoms trousers from September/october, til March/ April and then it’s shorts

BigPretty · 09/04/2024 21:04

The Trench coat I ordered has arrived and I like it. The belt sits a little high on me, but it is nice, so I will keep it. Think it will look better over dresses maybe, but I'll try it with some slimmer leg jeans tomorrow

Call me naive but why do people occasionally apologise for ordering from Schein ( friend of DS's did )
