Where are you shopping and what are you shopping for / planning to wear in spring/summer? Just looking for inspiration Smile.

I am a size 18 on top, size 20/22 on the bottom. I love the S&B page but a lot of the MN favourite shops or beautiful things being suggested only go up to a 16 (Klements) or 18 (Sezane, Toast, Hush).

I have just ordered a Trench coat from River Island Plus, and a new backpack and some sunglasses in the Asos sale.

Will link the Trench coat below:

Also following for info.

I’m 18 on top, 20/22 bottoms. I am trying not to spend as much money on fast fashion this year, would rather invest in higher quality pieces but it is a struggle to find nice stuff.

supermarkets can be great but doesn’t always last and I’m a bit polyestered out

NightIbble · 08/04/2024 22:04

I know you said not nessesarily dresses but dolly and dotty do some lovely bits in really fun prints that you could wear with leggings. Also if it's something smart eshakti are good as you can put in your measurements and often customise sleeve length neckline.

Jumping in here to ask where people get their chub rub shorts from?

I’ve bought some floaty dresses (mostly from yours) for our first holiday abroad as a family, but desperately need shorts underneath.

I found some really nice stuff in mini on the weekend. Their xxl would be a good size to try. Linen. Jumpers. Naice Mumsnet approved styles. I'm going back to try it all on when I'm not in a rush!

ChristmasLightsLover · 08/04/2024 22:38

Next own brand jeans at 25 quid are good. They are stretttccchy.

I've never heard of mini. Are you able to link at all?

Tu for jeans, LLL for gym leggings, Lands End for basics and I've started making my own too so that I can have exactly what I want and can tailor to my measurements.

M&S do the best chub rub shorts.
The snag ones are too long.

@BigPretty That was a typo. Sorry. Muji. Auto correct really doesn't want us spending our money there!

Eleventh Avenue Ltd have some fab things in.

OnlyTheBravest · 09/04/2024 00:20

Tommy Hilfiger curve, M&S, Next, Wallis

All the online stores have a far better selection than the stores.

AliceMcK · 09/04/2024 00:21

Very un-mc for me, Matalan is my main go to, charity shops, I bought an 18 summer skirt in one last year, it’s the first time I’d worn a skirt in years because it was the first time I’d found one I was comfortable in.

Dunnes, have to buy online but I find there clothes very comfortable. Just avoid Savida & Paul Costello as there sizing very small and tight.

melbourneadelaide · 09/04/2024 04:50

I'm a size 20 and this is what I'm wearing at work and on the weekend at the moment. I'm based in Australia though! When it's cold I'm wearing brown or black ballet flats, my long black puffer and sometimes Snag tights (cannot recommend them enough, wish I'd just tried them earlier!) When it's warm I've got brown leather sandals to go with the strappy dresses.

I really recommend Commonry, an Australian brand - they are the best plus size brand I've found to date and they do international shipping.

Here are links to the items that are still available.
Commonry The Linen Blend Shirt Dress
Mister Zimi Bee Maxi Dress
Ping Pong Tiered Poplin Dress
Cotton On Lexi Shirred Maxi Dress
Sportsgirl Claw Clip

I had the Mister Zimi dress altered as they only go to a 16, just took some length from the skirt and added it to the top so that it covers my chest properly.

I love fatface, but their trousers and jeans are so goddamn long. Even the short lengths have me tripping over.

Snags, but mine are probably vintage by now, before they went weird.

GnomeDePlume · 09/04/2024 08:05

I'm considerably bigger and barrel shaped so find most 'curvy' fits just look sacklike on me.

What I have done is learn to sew. I love fabric. There are some excellent online fabric stores. Being fat I prefer natural fibres and I can find huge ranges of plains and prints in pure cotton.

I have a few patterns which I have adjusted to get the fit I want. These give me a range of different tops & bottoms.

It isnt cheaper than fast fashion but gives me the result I want.
