If you are size 20 or bigger...

Where are you shopping and what are you shopping for / planning to wear in spring/summer? Just looking for inspiration Smile.

I am a size 18 on top, size 20/22 on the bottom. I love the S&B page but a lot of the MN favourite shops or beautiful things being suggested only go up to a 16 (Klements) or 18 (Sezane, Toast, Hush).

I have just ordered a Trench coat from River Island Plus, and a new backpack and some sunglasses in the Asos sale.

Will link the Trench coat below:

Not sure if you said your age or height.

Fatface, Seasalt, Saint & Sofia, Jumping Ships, Monsoon. Think perhaps Karen Millen and Mango have a plus size range. Sometimes get lucky in John Lewis or TK Max.

PianPianPiano · 08/04/2024 19:42

I wear a lot of stuff from Roman, Yours and Curvissa - lots of dresses, floaty tops and cropped trousers.

HesterPrincess · 08/04/2024 19:48

My main work is a tunic from Seasalt or White Stuff, M & S high waisted leggings, cashmere cardigan and nice boots. Weekends I go for jeggings (again M & S or White Stuff) and longer t-shirts with a kimono.
Taking Shape as a PP mentioned are fab for things a bit less ordinary.

Roman - doesn't wash well, ever.
Yours/Simply Be own brand stuff - again, doesn't wash well.

Special occasions - John Lewis, Boden, Chesca, Phase Eight.

IncognitoIsMyFavouriteWord · 08/04/2024 19:50

I only buy second hand from vinted now because I'm addicted to clothes, so I have to kurb spending.

I buy Yours, Monsoon, River Island, Very, H&M, Tu, F&F, Soon, and BooHoo.

I'm a size 20 top and bottom.

IncognitoIsMyFavouriteWord · 08/04/2024 19:50

Oh, I forgot JD Williams, too.

Following for inspo!

TheYoungestSibling · 08/04/2024 19:56

Size 18/20 here. Currently wearing a tee shirt from next, skinny jeans from Sainsbury and a cardigan from Asda.

For a bit smarter I've got linen wide leg trousers (got mine in Costco!) and striped Breton tees from absolutely anywhere that sells them!!

I do love dresses, but I find the weather too cold most of the time! Even with wool tights I'm chilly in a dress unless it's really hot.

Lately, I've been wearing jeans or trousers and jumpers mostly, but would love to find a nice blazer to smarten it up a bit. I saw someone with an unsteuctured (but not oversized), ruched sleeve blazer the other day and want to try on similar 🤔

Mango do plus sizes in blazers, also HM have some great linen mix blazers in at the moment and go up to 20 in most.

doingitbythebookthistime · 08/04/2024 19:56

ASOS Curve, River Island Plus and CurveWow!

I also have sooo many bits from TikTok shop believe it or not!

ItsMintUpNorth · 08/04/2024 19:58

I've not bought much this year but H&am was a firm favourite last year, not RTFT so someone else might have mentioned as it's a tip I got from here but Laura Adlington (from bake off) posts lots of nice high street stuff on Instagram.

EverybodysALebowski · 08/04/2024 20:11

Vinted for some great finds (esp M&S linen), Simply Be has some great sturdy all linen shirts in ecru and in black. Bright t-shirts and tanks from previous years to wear under, and wide leg trousers, mostly from M&S. Or wear nice shirts (also have some cotton ones) with sleeves rolled up and open over sleeveless long dresses from ASOS Curve and Ulla Popken. Would love to get a lovely flowy dress from Marina Rinaldi but haven't seen the right one yet.

waftabout · 08/04/2024 20:15

I like Nobody's Child for summer dresses.
I also get quite a few tops and dresses from Tu.
ASOS is my usual. Loads of brands on there so can usually find something.

scruffydogstinks · 08/04/2024 20:18

If you live midlands/north of England then Blue Diamond garden centres clothing ranges do some surprisingly flattering dresses and tops. There's a lot of frumpy stuff but amongst it all if you look carefully there are some decent flattering pieces too - tulip shaped dresses at tops made to flatter tummies! You just have to get over the fact that you're buying your clothes in a garden centre! 😆

I've got a lot of compliments recently for this dress from Popsy clothing

allthingsred · 08/04/2024 20:23

H&M
Next
Shein

wyziwyg · 08/04/2024 20:33

I have used these companies, not all their stuff is good but find the odd bit, probably for the 'older' ladies on here:

Rock Those Curves
Ki & Kaboodle
Live Unlimited
Pure Plus Clothing
TilletsClothing
Joanie
White Stuff
Pure Heart Boutique

Dearover · 08/04/2024 20:33

Fatface, White Stuff, Gudrun Sjoden, Seasalt

margotsdevil · 08/04/2024 20:42

Was it this blazer from M&S? (See photo). It's the best fitting most flattering blazer I've ever owned. I'm a very similar size to you although probably a size up in both areas.

Other places to try:

Next
Simply Be
Popsy (probably size down)
La Redoute (probably size up)
ASOS curve (filter ruthlessly)
John Lewis
Boden

I do have to admit to having dipped my toe in both Shein and Cider. I know, but needs must sometimes and sadly their plus size ranges are fabulous. I find Shein significantly more consistent in sizing and have some great basics (t-shirts, shell tops) as well as some really pretty summer dresses.

margotsdevil · 08/04/2024 20:43

With photo as it won't let me edit!

If you are size 20 or bigger...
Babyroobs · 08/04/2024 20:45

I guess it depends how old you are? I am middle aged and a size 20/ 22 and not very bothered about being stylish. I live in leggings/ jeans and long tunics from seasalt. I have started to buy a lot of seasalt tops because they just wash so well and keep their shape. I appreciate this style will probably be considered frumpy by many but it makes for an easy to maintain wardrobe for work wear.

BigPretty · 08/04/2024 20:52

Lots I hadn't thought of here, so thank you.

Downloading the Vinted app now. I've had success on there with dresses in the past

Also will look for blazers on Mango - thanks for that @Itsanothermanicmonday

@margotsdevil thank you too - will look at those

@Babyroobs I'm 40, but I like to make some efforts to be put together. Possibly not stylish as in trendy. But I like to look nice. Jeans can definitely fit in with that imo (I wear them all the time)!
