Sunscreen that doesn’t hurt your face?

Hidingplace · 07/04/2024 08:43

Not sure if this is the right place to post…I couldn’t decide!
Can anyone personally recommend a facial sunscreen that doesn’t sting the eyes? Every year I try a new one and every year I end up with sore, itchy, watery eyes! I honestly try to be so careful in that area, I think my eyes are just mega sensitive. Ideally I’d like something that it also a moisturiser so I don’t have to worry about both but that may be asking too much!
Thanks for any words of wisdom X

I use soltan factor 50 facial sunscreen and it doesn't sting me, alternatively use a children's one

Sunflowergirl1 · 07/04/2024 08:52

I have the same problem. Answer is the Boots factor 50 stick for children. Is great as lasts ages and doesn't sting eyes.

Okay thanks I will check these out. I seem to get stung by creams that other people have no issue with. My biggest problem is they make my eyes water which not only looks awful and ends up stinging, it usually involves rubbing half the cream off. I’m worse than the children! Will look into these though.

I get a moisturiser with spf like avene or la Roche possay

ErnestCelendine · 07/04/2024 09:37

Altruist facial sun lotion is great.

Corksoles · 07/04/2024 09:37

Hallo Sunday do an eye sunscreen- is actually better than my concealer. It's great.

this one is lovely. Doesn’t feel like sunscreen and definitely doesn’t make my eyes water or sting and I also have very sensitive eyes.

WeRateSquirrels · 07/04/2024 10:01

I have very sensitive skin and eyes and these are my current favourites.

I was kind of hoping I wouldn’t like the Ultra Violette because £££ but it’s lovely. I like the Nivea but it doesn’t work so well under makeup. The Altruist is a good all rounder and an excellent price.

Paula's Choice -

Resist Anti-Aging Moisturiser SPF 50 | Paula's Choice (paulaschoice.co.uk)

It's expensive but you only need a tiny amount. I've tried so many sunscreens and this is the ONLY one which actually doesn't feel or look like there's anything there. No eye irritation either.

If you’re only using a tiny amount, you won’t be getting the full SPF50.

This freaked me out so I looked it up and apparently the right amount for face and neck is half a teaspoon of sunscreen - will be measuring it out from tomorrow!

Dastidly · 07/04/2024 10:17

I use the stick version of this one great fit sensitive eyes and skin

Hidingplace · 07/04/2024 13:51

Fantastic, I have a lot to go through tonight! I think I may well get a moisturiser with one and then an actual one. Hopefully this will be the year I find the perfect one and can just stick to it! Thanks so much everyone 🙂

Clinique superdefense SPF 40.

It's my usual every day moisturiser I just use an extra dollop if I'm on holiday or out in the sun more than usual. I have horrendously sensitive eyes and don't get bothered by this one.

AgMaggy · 07/04/2024 20:24

Any of the Thank you Farmer ones, you can’t beat Korean skincare especially when it comes to SPF.
Also, moisturisers with SOF have nowhere near enough SFP in them to prevent sun damage. You need the extra proper SPF.

Mumaway · 07/04/2024 20:25

Piz Buin Allergy Face 50 (or 30 if you're not as lobster as me). It's the only one that doesn't give me heat bumps

Illpickthatup · 07/04/2024 20:28

I used skin saints vitamin C moisturiser with SPF30 every day and have never had any issues. I have quite sensitive eyes as well. I think it was about £4 from Tesco.

TheFTrain · 07/04/2024 20:31

The Beauty Pie SPF 30 is brilliant.

Cyclingmummy1 · 07/04/2024 21:09

Soltan factor 50 in the spray bottle.

Definitely not Ambre Solaire kids in the white spray bottle, it's agony.

kaiadeluded · 07/04/2024 21:30

I find these two best and can use them round my eyes as well

L'Oréal spf50 uv fluid

La Roche posay oil free spf 50

QueefofSheena · 07/04/2024 21:39

I like Beauty Pie, Murad and LRP. I’ve got a Dermetica one that I haven’t tried yet, it’s sold alongside tret so it should hopefully be good

Izzy24 · 08/04/2024 04:57

La Roche Posay Anthelios spf 50 is good.

Trinny London See the Light spf 50 is also a moisturiser and is really great but more expensive. Feels amazing though.

The SPF 30 is surprisingly moisturising, but the SPF 50 much more so and a thicker cream. I've actually ditched my old moisturiser. I have very dry skin and live in a hard water area and my skin is soft for days after washing the 50 off.

Last year's 50 stung my eyes, but not this year's. I think they changed the formulation. The 30 has never stung, and I've rubbed it in. No white cast, but I am very pale. The 30 disappears quickly, requires less work.

Both cheap. A litre bottle can be bought from their Amazon shop for as little as £17. Altruist is my HG skincare brand and I always recommend trying it. Another benefit is by purchasing you help protect children with Albinism in Africa.
