Help please - I need a ball gown.

Calling Mrs Badger & anyone else with a feel for these things...

I generally avoid dresses whenever possible and the last time I bought one was over 10 yrs ago. Now I have to go to a Hollywood themed ball & need something glamorous. Really hate shopping & haven't much clue where to even start looking. Is it mad to buy something like this online without trying it on? Any suggestions for what sort of thing to wear, colours & where to get it? All advice welcome.

Really like that Monsoon floral one on ebay, slur - the colours look stunning. Sandles look fine to me, but I wouldn't dare buy them without trying them on. Shoes generally don't fit me - even wide fitting are often too narrow - I sometimes resort to buying mens shoes for every day .

you can get away with flat satin / sequinned / embroidered ballet pumps if your dress is floor length - any shorter and you'll need at least a ktiten heel I'm afraid
