Please help me wear lipstick!

I would love to wear lipstick but have never found any that stays on. I've tried stain, liquid, colour with gloss on top, traditional lipstick, long lasting, I've blotted and reapplied over, all sorts of things.

It just comes off. I don't know if that's something about me, how I put it on or the lipstick. I always end up with lipstick around the outer part of my lips but none on the inner part.

Can anyone recommend any lipstick that will stay? Or tell me what I'm doing wrong?
Thank you

@OmniPresents > 'Just looking at the maybelline recommended on here - is it best to get the liquid or the crayon?'

I use the liquid that is painted on with a spongy brush (usually the 'dreamer' shade). I've been using it for months now and it doesn't dry my lips out anymore than a conventional lipstick. If anything it's better because I never have to reapply it when I'm out. When we get home after Sunday lunch you'd think I'd only just applied it.

That's the matte ink one - I can't vouch for others in the 'Superstay' range.

I forgot to say Clarins water stain is the best water stain for longevity: tinted lip balm over the top, only fades when you eat. It’s heavily fragranced, though.

I share your pain!
The only solutions I have found are to moisturise lips first then apply a lip pencil all over and then a gloss. Or the Fenty Popsicle lip stains are pretty good, but they don't last all day.

I don't know how anyone manages it unless they just don't eat or drink all day

Lipcote. Only thing that works

I feel your pain, OP. Max Factor Lipfinity and the Maybelline Superstay both shrivel my lips up, and go all dry and flaky. I'd rather have no colour on my lips than that!

Edited

Same here, the maybelline superstar was awful, sticky and uncomfortable made my lips look dreadful, it went straight in the bin.

I would steer clear of the matte ink style ones they make your lips look shrivelled and are so unflattering. Personally I'd pay extra cash and get a lipstick from Mac or Dior or something (up to date formulas). My longest latest lipstick has been the Mac matte one (black bullet). Just make sure your lips are in top condition. The maybelline matte ink went on then came straight back off and in the bin. It dries so stiff and flakes. The Bourjois ones are quite nice but still a bit thick amd crispy but better. Or use a lip liner with a bit of gloss on top.

Or stick with the traditional approach and line lips completely with a creamy liner then apply a matching lipstick. You could then cover lips with one layer of tissue, powder over the tissue then reapply the lipstick.
