any tried Laura Mercier foundation?

i have been trying to find my perfect foundation.

i went to the clinique counter and the lady there picked out a foundation for me which looks brilliant on me, i was dead chuffed until day 2 when my face got all itchy and stinging from it! Gutted!

so, i'm thinking Laura Mercier. is it worth the price? whats good/not good about it?

can anyone advise?

i am 32, fair skinned, dryish skinned, blonde hair, few lines...want to look good!

Just found this thread. I use the Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser which is brilliant for everyday wear. Would imagine their foundation would be good but don't know. Their primer is meant to be good. I use Chanel Vitalumiere foundation and really like it.

chocolatespiders · 29/03/2008 12:42

i like chanel foundation.. go to counter and they will give you samples of the different ones they do then try them at home

cornsilk · 29/03/2008 12:43

Yes I went to the counter looking for something for my sister's birthday and they insisted I took samples home with me for her to try out before I bought anything. They are very good.

brimfull · 29/03/2008 14:44

hi,I haven't tried laura mercier but I also use chanle vitalumiere which is great.

Agree about getting samples first or asking them to makeup you up there if they haven't got a sample.

I tried some LM today in Selfridges. Tried the palest (I am very white and freckly) which looked yellow on my hand and REALLY yellow on the tissue I wiped it off on. The girl assured me what I wanted was their shade ivory rose, which looked almost the colour of calamine lotion on my hand. I don't know, maybe it's just me?

What I do like is Bobby Brown luminous moisturising foundation in the palest shade (ivory or porcelain, can't remember which). Only thing pale enough - actually maybe a bit too pale but better than the tangerine effect anything else gives.

so, i have been to 3 make up counters for samples today, i came back with:

Laura Mercier moisturizing foundation in warm ivory

lancome photogenic lumessence in 01

chanel lady had no sample bottles, so, nothing from there.

the verdict, well, Laura Mercier very odd shade, kind of too pale but too yellow at the same time. very difficult to rub in or blend, sort of sticky and has done me no favours!

i am going to try the lancome one later but that too looks a bit pale

Try the Laura Mercier tinted moisturiser if you can get a sample. It really is good.

cheeryface · 29/03/2008 17:08

i think thats what i should have got although it might be too sheer for me, i'm used to proper foundations iyswim

you can layer it to make it a bit thicker. I love the stuff but have run out and can't get into Trafford Centre to get some more till after the hols! Feel almost naked without it!

i first reacted to the baby bottom butter stuff a few weeks ago,

the clinique foundation is the best match, the nicest i have tried but it's the first to irritate my skin as well!

i probably like medium coverage but i'm open to suggestion!

my skin is relatively o.k, bit tired looking maybe and i absolutely hate the lines that are appearing around my eyes!

the dramatically different moisturiser (clinique) did the same

I have fawn tinted moisturiser (LM)
The primer is womderful.
The colour looked fab in the shop (spceNK) but now i'm home i think i look a little too tan
However, my mac foundation was really looking clumpy, and the LM stuff looks musch younger and fresher.
The colour seems to settle a bit with my mac concealer on , i 'll see how it goes

Have tried cornsilk in the past lol!
I want something to hold the powder in place, yes. Lately I've noticed that powder tends to make my lines more noticeable so hace been searching for a new one that won't do that. Have currently got a prescriptives one that I like but nearly all gone. Will have a look at the lancome one. Is there any one in particular or do they just do one type?
