Hen do outfit help

Can anyone help with a crisis of confidence?!

I am going on a hen do to Manchester with some very glam young things (late 20s, early 30s) in a few weeks.
I am early 40s, size 12, hourglass. The vibe will be super dressed up, and it's been a very long time since I've done this sort of night out. I usually would do midi dress/ boots and leather biker for a night out, but I think I will feel out of place in that. I need a cool, easy to wear outfit that won't make me look like the responsible adult 😂

Oh my! I was in a taxi late one night in Manchester last November. Picture me in all my woollens, beanie, gloves, puffy padded coat … Suddenly thrown forward in cab as driver came to a halt to avoid ploughing down a group of giggling and somewhat merry young women. They all looked lovely - but they were wearing mostly string. And flowing locks. And contouring. And strappy heels.

I do not think this can be replicated for comfort … Or warmth.

No midi dress. No boots. No leather jacket. Sorry. Easter Grin

How about a frock from

Realisation?

In any case I’d aim for something either properly long or short (not midi which is office wear). And body skimming like the dress above - nothing wide, nothing that could be daywear. Silky fabric, clean lines. Ferocious grooming. (Spend a week on that. And probably all your disposable income for about six months …)

(Honestly I would die if anyone invited me to that sort of hen party. Thankfully there’s no prospect of it ever happening.)

@TheOriginalFrench you are not helping my panic 😂
This is exactly my fear!

What colours do you tend to like to wear? Any parts of your body you're not confident with and like to hide or not have out? What height are you?

Thisismyhappyface · 01/04/2024 13:07

@Capmagturk 5'6".
I like jewel colours, happy with brights, but no pastels. Don't like my upper arms out, happy to have rest of body on show if absolutely necessary, but am a bit heavier than I'd like, so will need shapewear scaffolding if anything is tight.

@TheOriginalFrench booking nails, hair etc as we speak 😂

Are those coated skinny jeans still a thing? If so, I'd go with those, high ankle boots, and a jewel coloured silk shirt over a black lace trimmed cami.

You’ll be fine. If Realisation is more than you planned to spend, Zara will probably have similar (though they won’t be silk and the quality won’t be as good).

Foootwear?

Nodaleto

Or the Zara equivalent. Unless you have fallen amongst a nighttime trainers tribe?
