Why would you show case some of the most boring clothes you have in an advert? Yet that is what they have done.

I dislike everything about this "styling" of the advert, clothes are nothing exciting, don't like the lip syncing , don't understand the lady "builders/workmen"
And don't like the crappy non recyclable coffee cup.
No idea who they are aiming this advert at, I'm in my 40s it's not aimed at me.

TheOGCCL · 31/03/2024 19:41

Is that the one where the model is messing about on an escalator? Very distracting when you're as risk averse as me.

AutumnCrow · 31/03/2024 19:45

The 'girls just wanna have fun' miming one?

Can't stand it. I just keep thinking, 'what's wrong with her, has she got crinkly tights she's trying to smooth out under there?'

concernedchild · 31/03/2024 19:47

It's fun. I think M&S are now trying to appeal to a younger demographic.

FishPie2 · 31/03/2024 20:33

I like the ad and also think they are going for a younger audience, having said that I love the short jacket and going to see if it is in store tomorrow.

Workingmytickettoparadise · 01/04/2024 10:22

If they are trying to appeal to a younger audience they have chosen the wrong clothes.

As a 24 year old, they haven't.

Princessfluffy · 01/04/2024 10:29

I think the palazzo pants look good

LittleCrackers · 01/04/2024 10:31

I like it 🤷🏼‍♀️

dudsville · 01/04/2024 10:38

I just googled it. It's just mildly boring visual set to a traditional fun tune.

cathyandclaire · 01/04/2024 13:48

I like it too - I think the clothes look classic but modern. This season is the first time I've bought any clothes from m&s for years and years.

Worstyearyet · 01/04/2024 13:50

I like it too!

felissamy · 01/04/2024 13:52

They hang really badly and look poorly made to me.

Princessfluffy · 01/04/2024 16:25

My local M&S clothing store is half empty and doesn't stock most of the stuff that I like in the online store which is very disappointing.

soupfiend · 01/04/2024 16:26

Anyone got a link to it?

DianaTaverner · 01/04/2024 16:37

The advert's embedded in this article.

I think that the clothes are fine - pared down classics with modern shapes are what younger (under 50, it's all relative) women are looking to buy this spring.

My gut feeling is that the M&S target demographic are opening their wardrobes thinking what to wear now the weather's changing, seeing a rail full of floral midi frocks (or possibly graphic prints if they did a lot of shopping last year) and having one of those "oh shit, my wardrobe is suddenly massively outdated!" moments which drives you to the shops in search of wide legged jeans and tops/jackets which will work with them, and probably a trenchcoat because it's the UK in April.

(And for the benefit of anyone who's going to @ me for believing that there is such a thing as fashion or that clothes can be "dated": this is S&B - AIBU is =>)

Can't stand that advert; it just really irritates me!!

YYURYYUCICYYUR4ME · 01/04/2024 16:50

Advert is annoying, but then so many ads are now. Clothing needs styling differently and not sure she is wearing them to their best advantage. The queue, at the coffee truck, is also in M&S and again, clothing looks fine, just not styled and more draped on the models. M&S have upped their game though and have bought a dress recently, which I had seen in a local store and then regretted not buying, a quick visit when home and bought the dress, but the next day it was sold out, so you have to be quick if you see something now, as the sizes disappear very quickly.

valjane · 01/04/2024 17:03

I like it.

tobee · 01/04/2024 17:50

I kept wondering if the woman in it is somebody? Or just a regular actress

Sidebeforeself · 01/04/2024 17:53

I hope that means they’ve stopped that god awful in store jingle to the tune of Rockin All Over The World

soupfiend · 01/04/2024 18:09

It looks very bland to me

Am I right that some months ago there was an ad with Sienna Miller in it, that was quite an interesting and attracting ad, I liked the looks in that ad

This one, horrible vest top (Rab C Nesbitt anyone?), boring old trench coat, not sure what dancing with road workers or queuing up for coffee has to to do with anything

Although lolling at a PP moaning about a disposable coffee cup!!!!!

Lifeetc · 01/04/2024 18:39

@soupfiend lol away, "young people" tend not to use take away coffees cups as they single use, "young trendy cafes" where I am encourage the use of reusable cups , edible cups or mug libraries.
It was just an observation and part of the reason I think M&S don't know who the advert is aimed at.
Any hoo this is in style + beauty not Aibu.

soupfiend · 01/04/2024 19:06

Even more lolling

Young people!!!

Young people are mass consumers of plastic/throw away items ALL the time, disposable fashion, disposable lifestyles

But you know, they've got a bamboo cup an all.

EllaPaella · 01/04/2024 19:38

The model is beautiful- the clothes are ok.. non offensive middle of the road high street stuff. Pretty much what you'd expect for M&S?
