Wahhhhh! I got my hair cut into a bob today. I've spent weeks looking at pictures for 'bob with curtain bangs'. Finally, I went for it today. Wanted collar length, which, to be fair it was just about when it was wet. It's just a bit too short. I know it's only hair, and I'm telling myself it takes a while for a new cut to settle, but omg, I hate it. I could cry. Don't know what I'm looking for really but I just needed to say it out loud because my family are doing the ' looks nice, do you like it?' Thing & I'm trying to style it out.

I went for a bob too a while ago. I asked for shoulder length but the hair dresser cut it at chin length which because I have curly hair meant it became even shorter when dry. I understand how you feel. I kept telling myself it will grow back. Yours will too OP.

Don't worry, that happened to me and I felt ridiculous but it really only took a few weeks to look OK again, even a tiny amount of hair growth made a huge difference! No one is paying your hair as much attention as you are anyway so try not to worry about it x

2 weeks makes all the difference.
I had mine cut into a short bob when I was younger. I was chanelling Louise Brooks but in my passport photo look like bloody Myra Hindley

Thank you. These replies really cheered me up. I'm feeling better about it already. I washed and styled it myself, which instantly felt better. Less stiff & turned under and just more messy & movable. I got my eyebrows threaded again. Everything instantly felt better. And treated myself to the NARS tinted moisturizer. Feeling 100% better about the hair.

I have this pretty much every haircut, must find a new hairdresser.

It will grow of course. Have you washed and styled it yourself? I find the stylist puts so much volume in it that 8ts even shorter.

You may as well try something with it while it grows, try curling the ends out or slick back with gel or something.

I got my hair cut recently and washed it and then went out in the drizzle with a hat on. Now I look like Wendolene Ramsbottom! 😞🤨

I have a short bob and I HATE the way my hairdresser styles it. I want to wear it kinda French bob/dark academia style and she insists on blow drying it into a (and I’m really sorry, I know it’s misogynistic 😬) very stiff “Karen” type cut. Ages me by about 10 years… The very first thing I do when I get home is wash and brush it myself and I instantly feel like “me”. I think finding a way that you like to style it is key for short bobs as there’s so many ways to go wrong with them.

Jennie I hate the way all hairdressers blow-dry my hair so I just have a wet cut. Why pay all that for a blow-dry then go home and wash it!

I don't pay extra for the blow dry, it's just what she does. I only actually pay for the cut. She's been cutting my hair for 10 years in all kinds of styles and cuts it really well so I leave her to her foibles 🤷‍♀️

Why are you paying for styling you dont like?

This is why I cut my own bob....if it looks terrible Ive no-one to blame but myself and at least it didnt cost me anything!

It's definitely better when I've styled it myself. I can't master the curl/ wave thing. I've straightened it and then kinda roughed it up with some texture spray. I went to see my Mil today and got a 'wow look at you, gorgeous' that put a spring in my step. Dare I say I'm embracing the bob.
